With all due respect, while FreeLolita's response was uncalled for and misplaced, when someone says they have "really strong softs", it sounds a bit self-congratulatory, which pisses some people off. I'm not a huge fan of it myself. I don't necessarily think you were trying to do it, but I can see why one would view it as trying to trivialize both the LSAT and GPA necessary to get into a school, which some people work very hard for. And not all of these people that worked hard to have the LSAT and GPA also had the opportunity (or financial resources for that matter) to volunteer in Africa or whatever. Just saying...benburns214 wrote:Ok well im sure im not the 1st one to tell you this, but I'll say it anyway, go fuck yourself. All i did was ask a question about what my chances are. Your post was unbelievably uncalled for... I dont know if your angry because you got rejected everywhere, or if you have some personal issues that derive from your asbergers-like social skills, but you can promptly shut the fuck up.156/3.4 Super strong softs though... has already gotten me into schools that I didnt think I could get into.
You are a shoe-in at FSU. While we are at it, let's surgarcoat more stuff. We are all getting associate jobs as soon as we graduate and getting 100K right out of the gate.
You see, the thing is, when you propose such idiotic inquiries, you're not going to get all serious, analytic answers; you're going to get some responses, like this one, that address the extremity of your propositions.
Think.
Then post.
Thanks.

I was in no way trying to "trivialize" both the LSAT and GPA. And I dont think the average person would make that assumption from my statements.Dream Machine wrote:benburns214 wrote:With all due respect, while FreeLolita's response was uncalled for and misplaced, when someone says they have "really strong softs", it sounds a bit self-congratulatory, which pisses some people off. To ignore the existance of "soft factors" in the application decision process would be niave, and all I was doing was stating that I believe I have a large base of soft factors that I consider to be strong and figured they might be considered strong to the adcomm's as well.
If I offended anyone by asking whether my soft factors (that I hope might be considered strong by adcomms) would help in my admissions probability.... I do, sincerely, apologize.
But, Dream Machine, I think you and I both know that FreeLolita was trolling like a douche.

I don't think you really offended anyone. Saying you have super strong softs sounds a lot better than some people who claim that they are "auto-admits" for a school.
Anyhow best of luck to everyone.

So still no review from FSU but I did get accepted by Iowa today. Makes no sense to me that I can get into 23rd ranked school and not even reviewed by the 50th ranked school.

lol. Law schools differ in their admissions processes. So I really don't understand why people think the ranking of a school has anything to do with when they get accepted. Just because you were accepted into one school doesn't mean that all lower-ranked schools have to have accepted you already....just relax and be happy you've been accepted somewhere.

Well I don't understand why a school post on their status checker that you will hear back within 3 months and then you are not even reviewed before 3 months. I don't expect to get into all lower ranked schools. In fact I have already been rejected by a lower ranked school. However I do expect to at least be considered and reviewed by now when I'm at median.

Re: FSU c/o 2015 applicants
I think the main issue is that FSU reviews applications in order of strength, not when they are received. So it is probably taking so long because applicants above the median are taking the attention away from your application. I know it says 3 months, but you probably applied when the bulk of the applications were being submitted.....but you're right, they probably shouldn't say 3 months if they can't give you a decision by then.
If I were you and I was seriously considering FSU, I would send a short email to admissions with your numbers, shortly address why you would like to go to FSU, and ask if a decision would be made soon...it couldn't hurt (I hope) but at least your showing you are still interested.

"Admissions Decisions
Admission decisions are made on a continuous basis, from October through May. Decisions are based on the strength of the application, not the date in which the application is received. It can take up to three months from the date your application becomes COMPLETE to hear back regarding the status of your application. To determine whether or not your application is complete, you should regularly check your online status checker."

Finally went under review today 3 months after going complete! Does anyone know how long the review process typically takes?

Re: FSU c/o 2015 applicants
I just checked my status and I went under review today, not sure what time. I haven't heard anything beyond that though, so I'm beginning to get worried now that other people have received phone calls and e-mails. My numbers are below FSU caliber (<3.0, 161) so I'm not expecting anything. But it would be freaking awesome to get in.

UF offered me $27k, while I didn't even get a scholarship application from FSU. Would ASD be a good time to bring this up? As it stands now, the offer from UF is too good to pass up. I would really like to have FSU give me a competitive scholarship offer.

I'm in the same boat and went complete in early November. A quick acceptance would go a long way to make up for the long complete application process though....seminole2011 wrote:Finally went under review today 3 months after going complete! I'm also finally under review. Looking at those of you in the same boat who have shared your numbers, it looks like we are all in roughly the same category. Now, my worry is if this is the first batch of waitlists or rejections (though I would think it would be the latter) but let's hope that fear is groundless. If I were accepted to FSU it would take an incredible offer to get me to go elsewhere.

I go to FSU undergrad, and have heard of a few people having been rejected as of a few weeks ago. So, that fear is somewhat unfounded.

lol. I don't think that helps calm fears. Now Jericho might be in the 2nd batch of rejections....lets hope not though.FSUNole95 wrote:JerichoJohnny wrote:I'm also finally under review. I'm willing to ride the waitlist! Just don't reject me FSU. I know a few rejections have been sent out, but here's hoping this is at least the waitlist batch!

If it helps, I am am in the Friday under review boat and went complete in early November. Because of my early complete date, I feel like I would have been in the first batch of rejections, so maybe we have some hope.cutecarmel wrote:lol. I don't think that helps calm fears.
