Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
GW was the first of my schools I heard back from. I got accepted via letter a couple days ago, postmarked on 11/25. Ironically, I got accepted to Georgetown the next day, so of the 11 schools I've applied at, the two from DC responded first! I guess they don't all move as slow as Congress there...

Unless you want to work in government, politics, public policy, or foreign affairs--for those, definitely go GW over Fordham.Eco wrote:Pick Fordham if you guys have to choose between that school or this one.
It's also not clear to me why you consider Fordham a superior choice across board, except that NYC is better as a city (though not for public service careers).

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
^Agreed. To back that up, GW also has a really strong IP program including (what sounds to be) a really interesting summer program in Munich, and from what I hear their International Law program is pretty strong as well. (US News also ranks GW 3 and 5 in those two areas respectively for anyone who cares about that). So I'm not really sure I agree that one should just pick Fordham over GW unless scholarship money comes into play. I mean, even just wanting to be in NY isn't REALLY a very good reason given the current market when you consider you'll be competing against students from Columbia, NYU, Cornell, and not to mention HYS, Chicago, etc.crumpledq wrote:Unless you want to work in government, politics, public policy, or foreign affairs--for those, definitely go GW over Fordham.Eco wrote:Pick Fordham if you guys have to choose between that school or this one.

So yeah, long story short: I don't think picking Fordham over GW is just going to outright be the best move for most people. For some, perhaps? But not most.

Finally status changed from application received to application complete today. Can anyone that has received a decision tell me if there is another status in between, an "under review" or something like that?

When did they receive your application? I've been at "Application Received" since 11/21 :-\benito wrote:Finally status changed from application received to application complete today. It was received on 11/10 and status didn't change till today, so you're probably on track

Also, I received a decision about 2 weeks ago and my status still says "Complete 11/10". So the status checker updates very slowly.

Be thankful that you have a status checker and can actually receive emails from GW
I'm flying blind here.
So I'm assuming that no one has been rejected yet. Last year they sent out a batch of rejection emails a few days after the first wave of acceptances. But then again, they didn't start sending out acceptances until Dec 22nd.
Has anyone recieved scholly info yet?

Well, it's not a rejection, but I just received an email from GW confirming that I'm now on the waitlist. 50 spots, which are apparently unranked. Yay(ish)?

Waitlisted as well. I think they said 50 people get OFF the waitlist, not are on the waitlist.

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Thank you for applying to The George Washington University Law School. The Committee on Admissions has reviewed your application and placed your name on our Waiting List.
You should be proud of the many accomplishments illustrated in your application. Applicants on our Waitlist are among those we would like to include in our first year class. Although the number varies from year to year, we anticipate that at least fifty spaces will become available for waiting list candidates, some as late as orientation in August.
We realize that your circumstances may change in the coming months. An e-mail will be sent to you in late March asking you to confirm your interest and update your contact information. Through the summer, we plan to keep you updated every few weeks regarding the waitlist and any openings that may become available. Please be advised that applicants on the Waitlist are not ranked.
If you do not wish to have your application remain under consideration, please e-mail us at waitlist@law.gwu.edu. On behalf of the Committee, we appreciate your patience and continued interest in GW Law.

At least on LSN, seems like they're accepting ppl that will not attend and waitlisting those that might. There's 0 reason why someone 3.7/167 should be waitlisted here. http://gw.lawschoolnumbers.com/applicants

Haven't gotten an e-mail but my 167/3.3 sounds like current waitlist material! Exciting! :/

The last date I have is complete on 10/20/2011. Makes sense considering I sent in my application around October 13 or so.Mizz wrote:When did you waitlisted people go complete?
Any thoughts on whether or not us waitlisted folks actually have a chance? I know I'm in at Boston (which I'm quite happy about), but I'm not certain if I should keep holding out hope for GW (especially if they only extend an offer in August or something else which is extremely inconvenient).

Re: GW c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
The email didn't even leave a window saying you can get off BEFORE late march. I dunno. BU is incredibly solid. If you know you'd rather go to BU anyway, then I'd leave the WL. But if you're not sure, you have nothing to lose by staying on.Mac&Cheese89 wrote:The last date I have is complete on 10/20/2011. That scares me that they waitlisted a 3.7/167. I can't figure out what they are doing. All of the acceptances are at or way above 75th percentile.

I'm definitely staying until the end. I live in the area and want to practice IP in DC, so it's a good choice for me.
