Unless your numbers are way, way above Tulane's average, it would be a really bad idea to assume that you'll be accepted again just because you were accepted once.tulanetiger wrote:Need some advice. I asked to be deferred for a year because of an opportunity at work. However, I still owe the $1,000 seat deposit by June 1, and will owe another seat deposit for next year. Is it a good idea to hold my spot, or is it safe to assume that since I was accepted once, I'll be accepted again? Obviously, reapplying could save me quite a bit of cash in the short run. Any reason to think my financial aid package could be sweetened by technically being one of the first students accepted for next year?

Seriously weighing Tulane and have 2 questions.
1) Do students typically work in Nola in the summers?
2) How portable is the school? When I visited and talked to admissions, they said a good number of students leave after graduation to Cali and NY.

From what i've gathered it seems like there are a fair number of students, especially "locals," that tend to stay in New Orleans for summer work. I'm sure if your grades are there you could get a job in another market though.lwscap wrote:Seriously weighing Tulane and have 2 questions.

I've heard the same thing you've heard on post-grad employment. However, it seems like people are having a much harder time finding work outside the school's region with the shaky economy. Again, if your grades are there it shouldn't be a show stopper, but schools outside the T14 don't really have nationwide prestige. Depending on the market you want to practice in you may be better at a school in that region.
