I realllly want to get in here. It is my first choice of schools because I'm from Houston and my family and many of my friends are there.

Any advice? When will the waitlisted people know if they are in or out?
I had been hoping LSAT scores aren't the only thing that matters, and I guess I'm right. It seems if you have a shit personal statement you're out, but other than that, LSAT scores are the only thing that matters. And who has a 2.3 GPA and gets a 170 anyway? Drunken Batman? So much bullshit.

From LSN scholarship info it seems that they rewarded people more for high GPAs than high LSAT scores so you might be able to extrapolate from this that they value GPA more.

theatetus, just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!

Holy shit, the drunken Batman quote made me spit coffee all over a bunch of contracts on my desk, good work.

So when are you officially giving up hope for getting into UHLC? I figure by the end of this week I will have to take action on the other places I got in, but I really don't want to leave Texas for them!

Orientation is on the 17th of August so we would have to know before that, but I will already have to be moved and start classes elsewhere before that!

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned the Dean usually sends out an email the first week of classes to some waitlisters asking if they still want to attend. I don't know if this is true or not but it sounds plausible. For someone like me who is going to my backup school in Houston that's not a huge deal (except for the tuition I forfeit), but it is a huge deal if you're moving out of state.

The only thing I could recommend is emailing UHCL and state your case, but the waitlist is all dependent on other students in a similar situation to yours who are waiting to get in somewhere else. Also it's highly likely that admissions doesn't really give a fuck.

You really think emailing them would make any difference? It's one of those things where I find myself afraid to contact them if for whatever reason it ends up hurting my chances rather than helping!

It definitely helps as long as you don't say anything stupid. Just keep it simple. Let them know you're still interested and that you will attend if you get accepted. Provide evidence as to why (like you're already in Houston). They're more likely to try to pick someone that they know is going to accept than waste time going through people that might say no to them and risk having an empty seat. Especially as the semester draws closer.

I'll send an email, figure I might as well at this point.

For those of you who got accepted from the wait list, did you receive a call first or an email? Every time I got an email in probably the past two weeks my heart skips a beat as I look to see if it's from UH. But if you are supposed to receive a call first instead maybe I can calm down a little bit!

Should we expect a call first or an email ?

I've been checking my email constantly

The best thing to do would be to stare at the computer screen all day and have your phone safely in hand. Seems to be working pretty well for me.

Which one of you funny guys put "Rice University" instead of UHLC for your letter of continued interest? Lol, they actually do care about that kind of stuff - I've seen it first hand now

What are you referring to bartleby? Also for those who don't know admissions saves every email from you in your file.

Just to give you waitlisters a little info, I highly doubt he's on the admissions committee. He is a potentially rising 2L at UH that was considering dropping out (based on a thread started in May).

He might be a student worker in the admissions office, but I doubt he can (or is allowed to) give you info on waitlist movement.

I could very well be wrong, and he'll be back shortly, but I would not expect to get anymore information.
