I forgot to mention that I was on the phone with admissions yesterday and they said that "most" decisions will come out in Feb. They said it twice for emphasis.

Thanks! That eases the worry a little bit :)

L&C is a private school; there's no in-state tuition.

Oh my god, duh. Sorry! I posted this in two other threads too and was clearly not thinking. I'm trying to cross-check facts between universities. Please excuse that blonde moment!

Honestly LC is my #1, even above higher ranking schools. I'm really hoping to get in, but my file still says "app file complete," meaning it isnt even up for review yet. I'm visiting Friday...does anyone know if a visit/meeting with an admissions director has any effect on your file?

THIS. Except my enthusiasm for the school and it's environmental programs is tempered somewhat by the lukewarm merit aid track record.

At least its not like my Seattle U app that has been in "Decision Pending" since 12/20.

So, should I get in, not much aid to expect. Thats nice. Still, I'll bite the bullet.

Is anyone else going to the reception for Admitted Students on March 23-24? Given the $400 travel stipend, I'm going.

I'm going as well. Staying at the modera.

The info for the stipend is in the admittance packet. It says that not everyone gets it but it never hurts to ask for it.

My biggest concern is that looking at flights, I'll have to take a 10:30 PM red eye on the Friday of the visit, as I have a pretty huge commitment the next night. I'm hoping L&C will let me check out and stash my carry on somewhere at the school.

How did the status checker change for those admitted? Is there a step between file complete and getting an answer, or do you just get their decision directly?

Got my third update today. Still says Application File Complete but my requirements section went blank. Hopefully good news is coming!

I was accepted over a week ago, and my checker still says "Complete" at 12/20.

I got in with a 3.3 and a 164. Offered 17k, but the tuition still makes me glad I didn't have any loans in undergrad so that I can max them out now.

Sent them an email requesting scholarship consideration and attaching an offer from a comparable school.

We'll see what happens.

Same here. It hasn't changed since Christmas, it just says "complete".

I may do this as well. L&C did give me a scholarship, but slightly-better-ranked Seton Hall gave me a scholarship worth 75% of its tuition.

lcstudent wrote:L&C is not in need of students that it should feel a need to change its disposition once the various committees have made their independent decisions for admission, scholarship amounts, etc. I'm sure they trust that any student it admits will have choices and you can make a decision based on where you will fit best.

It appears you give much credence to magazine rankings as a substitute for your own judgment about where you'll be happy. L&C fosters passionate and independent thinkers who know how to work hard for what matters most to them, and all have a solid sense of who they are and what they want to do. You should choose the place which fits your personality and ability to learn best so you can succeed independently of the school you attend, not because of the school you attend (including what you managed to get out of them). If money and ranking matter most to you, then your choice should already be clear based on those metrics.
Hey, if life were perfect, money wouldn't matter. But guess what? It does. I'm taking out loans and hoping law school will be a worthwhile investment in my life. If you don't think money is a huge and possibly deciding factor in this day and age, it's time to face a reality check and stop being naive.
