Re: Boston University c/o 2015 Applicants
I was accepted a while ago and have a scholarship offer from them, but from what I've heard and what the FinAid rep said at the ASD, they are open to negotiating.freaknroll wrote:No bueono, did you try to negotiate with other schollys at all? Or did they just flat out say we don't give a rats ass what you've received elsewhere?SDPalmTree wrote:I called up FinAid yesterday and they pretty much told me that if I hadn't received a merit scholarship with my acceptance, I wasn't going to get one. I'll probably be withdrawing soon.msblaw89 wrote:Has anyone who was accepted earlier this month received scholarship money?

When did he open negotiations? If you do not mind sharing specifics, how successful were his efforts? Did he proceed through e-mails?Cupidity wrote:My bf just had success negotiating last week.
Thanks!

I just received scholly in the mail. If you're on the west coast, there's still hope!

I hope the same is for Texas... Keep getting these silly "history of BU law" packets, and they are really getting on my nerves.AlmostOver wrote:I just received scholly in the mail. If you're on the west coast, there's still hope!

I just got waitlisted (a little bummed), but I'm pretty sure it was yield protect since I have numbers above their medians and I've received generous merit aid offers from peer schools. I have a question before I fill out my waitlist response form -- do students who get of the waitlist get offered scholarships as well? I do like BU, and if I were to get a great financial aid package, it could easily be my top choice.
Thank you!
Thank you!

I forget what the form said but I would be extremely surprised if, if you were a YP, they didn't offer you a scholarship if you wrote a LOCI insinuating that you would be very interested in attending if offered money.Miss_Sunshine wrote:I just got waitlisted (a little bummed), but I'm pretty sure it was yield protect since I have numbers above their medians and I've received generous merit aid offers from peer schools. Got scholly info in the mail while I was visiting Boston College, hahaha. BU gave me $105,000 a year--pretty generous and definitely something to think about.
...still pissed about the way the 12/6 Mafia was treated, though.

ETA: Checked my mail and got another non-$ thing from BU. Tour-guide book-thing of Boston. Was told $ info was mailed to me March 22-23. Officially giving up hope.

I have a mailing listed in my status checker for 3/23. The title is blank however so I have no clue what it is, praying that it's $. Did anyone who received a scholly have a mailing listed in their status checker?Killingly wrote:Damn.Moriarty wrote:BU gave me $105,000 a year

edit: I'm confused Kill. If they told you that they mailed you $ info on 3/22-23 why are you giving up hope?

Well I called and they said it hadn't been mailed. So whoever I talked to the first time was either just guessing or just wanted to shut me up.ThreeRivers wrote:Killingly wrote: Was told $ info was mailed to me March 22-23. Officially giving up hope.I was told I'd know before the April 15 deadline. I was figuring that would mean they'd mail it sometime this week at the latest (so don't wait until the very last week with the mail), but knowing that you were told March 22 / 23 and still haven't heard anything has me worried lol
