Re: W&L c/o 2015
wl1l, thanks for the response. It seems like the top 20% maybe shoot for washington and/or clerkships. But where does everyone else go. I hear W&L places well in VA, but I am wondering how many jobs there could be in a state where the largest town is half a million? On top of that, there are three highly ranked schools in the state, four more in DC, and a pretty decent TTT in Richmond. So, where will the bottom 80% be looking for jobs? What is the common game plan for a WL grad?

I was shocked when I was accepted (considering my numbers--3.2x, 164) and even more shocked that I got a scholarship. They've definitely jumped to my top choice.

That's either good news for the rest of us or means that you just had a ridiculously impressive app!! Congrats to you that's great.nshapkar wrote:I was shocked when I was accepted (considering my numbers--3.2x, 164) and even more shocked that I got a scholarship. Any idea what class rank % (roughly) a 3.25 translates to at W&L?

I couldn't tell you for sure about a 3.25, but I know that my letter said that roughly 70% of the class will be above a 3.15.ganggreen wrote:Any idea what class rank % (roughly) a 3.25 translates to at W&L?

Just got home and my scholarship letter was waiting and W&L has definitely gone way up on my list. 40k per year with a 3.25 gpa stipulation. I was pretty shocked given my numbers (3.6, 164) and that I'm white. I will definitely be considering W&L a lot more than I thought I would be!
And my letter says 60% of the students maintain 3.25's or better.

Does it make any difference if the median is high or low?

Congrats beachbum! Aren't you are already in at UC-Irvine as well? You must have some killer softs.Beachbum89 wrote:Just got home and my scholarship letter was waiting and W&L has definitely gone way up on my list. 40k per year with a 3.25 gpa stipulation. 40k/year with 3.25 stipulation....I will definitely consider W&L. I'm just concerned about my husband finding employment in the area. He currently works for Apple computers as Tech support.
165/3.7 for those who are curious.

Thanks! And yes I'm in at UC Irvine as well which was a bit of a shock too. I think I've got some very unique softs that speak to the diversity that so many schools say they look for in applicants. Whether or not that's helped me or not who knows?btw384 wrote:Congrats beachbum! Aren't you are already in at UC-Irvine as well? Next round of decisions is allegedly going to occur post-New Years or even the week after. Waiting is fun, right?! Still... you have to love the admissions honesty.

20k/yr with 3.15 stip. In the back of my mind, I was hoping for the 40k/yr with 3.25. Oh well, that's still a lot of money and it'll definitely put W&L on my short(er) list.

Re: W&L c/o 2015
I am in love with w&l so much that the acceptance from american and george mason don't even come close..but am I jumping the gun here?..I want to be a public defender, which is why w&l's 3l criminal justice clinic appeals to me, but george mason places better in the dc area, which is where I'll like to be...any advice people

Anyone still waiting on their scholarship letter who received the email from Twitty saying they'd be mailed last Friday? As of today I haven't gotten it at my current address (MA) or my permanent address (NJ).
