What do you all think about the 2.5 GPA stip on the merit scholarship? Is that reasonable?

I agree. But most people on TLS are like "omg beware of GPA stips!" so I just wanted to make sure 2.5 is something that can pretty easily be maintained. I would think it would be, but I also am a clueless 0L who doesn't even know what UCLA's median GPA is so what do I know.

What is everyone's average complete date -> acceptance timeframe? I submitted my apps in November, but I asked for the final decision to be delayed until my fall grades and letter of programmatic contribution were in... so they just put it in the queue about a week ago..

I was complete 1/6 and am waiting for my acceptance/rejection. Got accepted into a couple other places, but seriously, I can't decide of this thread is making me feel better or worse about my chances. I wish they'd just accept or reject me NOW so I can move on with my life... T_T

Re: UCLA 2011-2012 (class of 2015)
I have a question:
UCLA awarded me a need-based grant award (based on the NeedAccess application according to the email), but they have yet to mention anything about a scholarship. Does this mean that I was only considered for this grant and should not expect any additional scholarship money? I was accepted about a week ago and just finalized my FAFSA a few days ago.
My numbers are split - one at the 25th, the other at the 75th. I received a better financial aid package from a school ranked
within a few spots of UCLA, so I will be telling them about that...

In by phone call from Dean Schwartz on Friday! w00t!
He mentioned something to the effect of "we'll have scholarship information by the end of next week; let me know if you haven't heard anything." Anyone else in this boat? Not sure if I'd go at sticker, but super-excited to get in. UCLA's the only realistic chance I've got at not leaving the West Coast at this point, so I'm stoked!

Congrats! I found out about scholly money when I got my official acceptance letter. They may still be mulling over how much they want to offer.der_saeufer wrote:In by phone call from Dean Schwartz on Friday! w00t!

Side note - does anyone have info on UCLA geographical placement statistics? Seems to be the only important chart not on UCLA's website.
Gracias

Re: UCLA 2011-2012 (class of 2015)
I was interested in this also but AFAIK UCLA hasn't actually put out stats for geographical placement. However, USC has put out their own data (http://weblaw.usc.edu/careers/statistic ... page_2.jpg) and I think it's okay to use them as a reference given that the two schools are basically peer schools and attract similar pool of students (although UCLA has a larger class and supposedly has a slight edge placing outside of California). In either case, both are mostly regional powerhouses and I would say probably at least 3/4 of the class, likely more, stay in California, particularly SoCal. If you're looking for big law employment elsewhere it's very likely you'll need either top <20% grades or ties to a specific region or some combination of both.DaftAndDirect wrote:

Thanks for that - I think it's reasonable to benchmark against USC for the most part.Errzii wrote:I was interested in this also but AFAIK UCLA hasn't actually put out stats for geographical placement. Re: UCLA 2011-2012 (class of 2015)
Has anyone not yet admitted ever scheduled a visit or at least asked to speak to Dean Schwartz?
I was waitlisted about a month ago and already sent in 1 LOCI. When the time is right to turn in my 2nd LOCI, I was planning on taking a tour of UCLA and asking to see if I could personally hand him my LOCI and introduce myself. I'm not trying to do any ass kissing, just a simple gesture to show how badly I want UCLA. Also, my admitted buddy would be there with me, to thank him for the acceptance. Is this a good idea? Can it actually be arranged?
Also....is it ok to talk on the LOCI about the other offers I've received since I was waitlisted? I wouldn't name any specific names on it. Something along the lines of , "I've been admitted to a t-14 and given a substantial scholarship at a competitive regional school, but I would gladly withdraw both if accepted to UCLA."
I live in LA and would like to practice in LA..... i'm not 100% though

The sentiment is appreciated. I think they're paper macheing balloons for their moms with our applications. Just one theory.splitbrain wrote:That's crazy! Sorry to hear it is taking so long.hookem12 wrote:Green Glass Windows wrote:Has anybody else complete in november still not heard back yet?
Yup.
