Are you guys reading any books in preparation for the Fall, or just taking it easy?

Thanks for the links.
I just got accepted so I don't know if there is a required reading list. If there is, please post the link.
Thanks!

Not sure yet. I'll probably read Getting to Maybe since I've heard so many good things about it. But idk if I'll do anything else. There are so many negative comments on TLS re: summer prep. What about you?Geaux12 wrote:Are you guys reading any books in preparation for the Fall, or just taking it easy?

I'll also be reading GTM, and maybe one other book on legal reasoning. That said, I think our time is better spent on the beach with a beer.MissMock wrote:Not sure yet. I really didn't do anything before 1L last summer and it worked out. I don't know about getting to maybe, but I did LEEWS in September when Wentworth Miller came to UF and I attribute much of that class to all/any success I've had this past year. Just FWIW.

I'm still on the waitlist at UF. Anyone get off the waitlist? The waiting is agony since UF is one of my top-choices. I don't know if waiting anymore will be realistic or fruitful...any advice?
I'm also wondering if UF is truly the school for me. I'm a little wary because I attended UF for undergrad and I didn't find the school to be very diverse. The diversity numbers at UF worry me. Maybe one might think that diversity numbers at a law school are naught but living in Gainesville as a minority is a real eye-opener and people in North Florida are extremely conservative and racist. It is not a good feeling.

Hey guys, does anyone know what the maximum yearly scholarship offered by UF is? I talked to Carol Huber today and she informed me that $14k/ year is the highest offer they give, even though on law school numbers a few people are reporting $60k for all 3 years. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Pretty sure that's the most merit aid they give. Carol is really nice and I don't think she'd lie to you. The folks on LSN might be including need-based aid.fpsandy wrote:Hey guys, does anyone know what the maximum yearly scholarship offered by UF is? Yea I guess. I was always under the impression that a merit based 'full-ride' was possible though.

I've never seen a merit-based full ride at UF. In-state is a pretty good deal and an even better one with scholarship money. They have enough people wanting to attend that they don't need to hand out full rides.fpsandy wrote:pinkcamellia wrote:Pretty sure that's the most merit aid they give. Re: U. of Florida c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Honestly, I've been having top 14 law school dreams but I don't know how likely they are to come true anymore. I want to live in Florida when I become a lawyer, but I did at least want to go out of state to one of the top schools partly because the obvious benefits of going to a higher ranked school but also because I've lived in Florida most of my life and kinda wanted to get out for a few years. But Gainesville is starting to grow on me, and the more I read into it the more I feel like I'd be miserable doing big law, so I'm now considering UF law school. The idea of getting out of law school without too much debt over my head also sounds VERY appealing. I guess I'm just wondering how well UF law school students do at getting jobs in Florida. I definitely would prefer in the Broward/Dade county area, so I guess any information on the legal job market in Florida would be useful
