170 obviously strong, but your GPA is a pos, not sure how many schools even give extreme splitters money, I feel pretty lucky myself to have gotten money.dietcoke0 wrote:I have a 2.6 and a 170, got into WUSTL.

Thanks guys... I will join the FB group now.
Also, to the people still waiting, don't give up hope. I seriously get the feeling Wash U wants people who want to be there. If you haven't been communicating with them, now is a good time to express your sincere interest. My communications with the admin office, et al, has been really nice. Good people, them! Good luck to all the other wait listers.

Dietcoke - Did you get at least 45K total? If so, you got what's coming to you under their matrix, I think.

I'm in the same situation, except accepted to University of Illinois. I'm hoping to get in before the second $500 deposit. I would love to be at WUSTL this fall. At the moment I'm between Indiana-Bloomington and SLU. If I can get in to WUSTL though that will make the decision easy. I toured the school and spoke with an admissions counselor and sent in a letter of continuing interest. Any ideas on anything else I can do to help my chances? I have a 164/3.42.

You got in to the Indiana JD/MBA.... that is pretty damn good. Have you deposited there, or are you holding out till the last minute for Wash U? Just tell Wash U your other offers and that you are willing to ditch them if they take you. They want people that want to be there.lawyerinwaiting wrote:Have you sent them any additional info? Yeah I have been in contact... My numbers are nothing to brag about either, but I still have my fingers crossed. I also felt lucky to make the waitlist. I just hope it isn't an "Hey we like you just enough to waitlist, but never really intend on accepting you" kind of deal.lawyerinwaiting wrote:eww i just realized i said lol way too many times in that post.lawyerinwaiting wrote:Have you sent them any additional info? Nope, well under, and did ask for more, and didn't get it. Have strong softs, GPA addendum (33 hours of College credit in high school that I withdrew from or underperformed since I was just taking random courses, as well as a set of withdraws with a changed major in UG, and got 3.5 in my major in UG), few years real WE, and over achieved at other schools scholarship-wise. Felt according to past allocations that I got less than half of what I should've, but hey, oh well. Still riding out other waitlists for T14, so it's all good. Wash U would admit felons if it raised their medians, and I'm okay with that. Just a numbers game, and I want higher numbers in my ScholarshipsRobespierre wrote:Dietcoke - Did you get at least 45K total? If so, you got what's coming to you under their matrix, I think.

I think you are painting a bad picture of the admissions committee and the process. Admitting felons to strictly increase medians?!? Pretty big accusation... The student that have me the tour was well under the LSAT median with a 160, but was admitted because of the quality of his character and softs. So I respectfully disagree.dietcoke0 wrote:Nope, well under, and did ask for more, and didn't get it. Re: WUSTL c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
People in the adcomm I met with are super nice and lovely people. I agree. But most people believe, me included, that Wash U is a giant numbers-whore school. Like I said, I'm okay with that, since it's working out for me. I know only thing keeping me in the game in a good LSAT score.
Students I meet were high LSAT, completely confused why their offers were so high, and said they were likely to pay more to go to a higher ranked school, but wanted to see the school first.

-URM status
-well above median (probably 75th%ile or up) GPA
-non trad applicant with amazing story or work experience, saved children, or cured cancer or something like that.
It really is a numbers game for the vast majority of applicants. There are exceptions to every rule, but the exceptions tend to be...well, exceptional.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
The point being made was that they do select candidates that are slightly below medians with decent softs, as opposed to the number scum they were being made out to be by saying a felon with numbers would be selected.tmon wrote:Most likely they had one or more of the following:sam61252 wrote:I think you are painting a bad picture of the admissions committee and the process. Yes, I'm sure they do, but I'll bet my morning donuts this 160, which is a good score, had a 3.8+ or was a URM.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
