It's possible that you would qualify; LSN stats suggest that 170 is the minimum score to be considered for PT. I'm also not sure that Duke provides any solicited waivers. I solicited one several weeks ago, and the admissions guy told me I should just wait until the next round of waivers were issued. He was really nice, though; he basically told me that I was definitely going to receive the waiver, and that I shouldn't waste my money applying immediately, because Duke does not offer reimbursements to those that have already applied. About a week later I got the PT invite. I would just e-mail admissions and ask their advice.Mal Reynolds wrote:What's up everyone checking in with my shiny, new LSAT score. Would anyone know if 170, 3.9+ would qualify for PT? I'm about to do some solicited fee waiver emails ut I'm wondering whether I should hold off until the admissions office does a search for the new applicant pool to invite more PT people? Thanks a lot for your input.

Same here. How long did it take people to go from being under review to a decision notification last year for non-PT RD candidates?lsatisevil wrote:RD. Complete 9/22. Currently Under Review: Status Date 10/24

ON my account said m Duke PT application had a priority track complete notification on 10/17 and has been under review since 10/20?
Does this mean I will definitely get my decision today?

Would love to go here but don't have the GPA, 3.0x and 170 LSAT.
Is it less competitive if I apply for the part time program?

177/3.84 here. Do you think I need to write a 'Why Duke' essay to avoid getting YP'd or should I be okay without one?

Also got that today, with a 171 and 3.53. I don't think my chances are great, but I'll apply and see what happens.Mal Reynolds wrote:Just got Duke PT and fee waiver today. Pretty excited now just waiting on my last damn LOR before I submit.

I'm an idiot. I just got an email from Duke telling me I selected regular decision but did the certification for ED and RD. I was confused and decided it would be safer to just sign both...and now I really regret that. Hopefully this does not look too bad

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. I don't think it's a big deal though because when I responded to Duke's clarification email they told me "no worries" and that a lot of people had done the same thing. They said they'll have to work on changing the app next year so it's less confusing. Made me feel a lot better after hearing that. That said, I should find out my decision tomorrow - feeling really nervous this whole week.Mitterrand wrote:I'm an idiot. Question for those of you who are "under review": I have been "file complete; ready for review" since 10/20... How long did it take you to go from "ready for review" to under review? Note: I am regular decision, reach candidate (161, 4.11, NA... good diversity statement). Also, any thoughts on my chances? Is this a total pipe dream?

Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hi guys. First time poster in this thread.
Im in the Priority Track and my file got completed two days ago. I just got an email from Duke admissions requesting me to provide addendum for my low gpa in my senior year and the reason why I took LSAT three times.
I'm freaking out because I don't know what to write!
I didn't write addendum for any of these because I did not have a compelling/ legit reason like illness or financial difficulty. I didn't do well in my seinior year just because I had a lot on my plate (grad school application, vasity sports team, thesis writing) and I sucked at time management. Also I slacked off in the second semester because I got admitted to grad school by that time. Shall I be just honest and say I made a mistake? Or would I look bad?
For multiple LSATs, I didn't feel the need to address it because the score difference is slim (167, 171, 169). But I guess now I have to provide some kind of explanation. Honestly, I can't think of any reason other than that each time I took, the score was below my expectations and I thought I could do better. Can I write that?
Do you guys have any advice/opinion? My apologies if this is not the appropriate thread to ask this kind of question. But I'm panicking right now so any opinion will be appreciated.

First, don't panic. There have been 2 other people in this thread asked to explain an anomaly in their PT app. They wouldn't ask if they were just going to reject you, so there's that.
Second, write what is honest and keep it simple. If there is no reason, there is no reason. Just say you took the LSAT three times because your scores did not meet your expectations based on practice tests. Unfortunately, you weren't able to translate much higher scores on PT into an official score. No worries.
On the GPA addendum, make it mature and focus it on the positive. Try something like "As I approached the end up my undergraduate career, I was increasingly focused on out-of-classroom priorities....explanation of how exciting/interesting/etc your grad program was and that you had whatever sporting commitments.....then close with something like, With the maturity that comes from age, I now regret that I did not perform up to my usual standards in that less semester due to this loss of focus. However, I do not believe that those grades are a reflection of my ability as can be seen from the vast majority of grades I achieved throughout my undergraduate career." That is what I would do, along those lines.
