+1 I think they haven't even began to WL or reject RD applicants... not that I am complaining but that seems unusualfranklyscarlet wrote:12/19. Come on duke. Let's get a move on.

Haha I'm assuming that's why I'm still "under-review," because no way I'm getting in. But it's annoying as all get-out.msblaw89 wrote:+1 I think they haven't even began to WL or reject RD applicants... not that I am complaining but that seems unusualfranklyscarlet wrote:12/19. With your credentials I wouldn't be too worried. I think it has less to do with your desirability as a law student and more to do with yp.

I'm cautiously thinking that's what it is too, but I also had softs that I wasn't all that confident with, so I'm a little worried they just had the opportunity to pass up numbers for better overall Apps.Shooter wrote:Business:

If YP is the case what exactly will help and how long should I expect to wait for a response? I plan on calling and sending in a LOCI by Monday, but I already wrote a Why Duke and I'm not exactly sure what beyond that is going to convince them.

Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
People keep asking me when I expect to hear from Duke, and I'm not sure what to tell them or to expect myself. I know there are people on here who have been under review for months. I submitted 1/9/12 (gpa 3.76 lsat 169) went UR 1/30/12--since then nothing. Is it realistic to expect a decision by the middle of march? I recognize every school wants to practice YP (which doesn't apply to me), and wants to hold back decisions to manage their median LSAT and gpa figures, but at some point it's so late in the game that they can't hold out any longer, I'm thinking. Also, with the drop in applications of 20%, the process should theoretically be quicker with fewer overall apps to process, and probably a slight weakening of the numbers at most schools. This is my first year applying so I don't know the relationship between decisions rendered and calendar date in past years. Any thoughts?

Dean Hoye said that they make every effort to give RD decision by March...some will hear sooner and others later. But since RD doesnt have to make a decision until April 15, they give preference to JD/LLM who start in summer... and their 2 separate batches of ED applicants. Plus, throw the PT people in the mixmmk33 wrote:People keep asking me when I expect to hear from Duke, and I'm not sure what to tell them or to expect myself. I sort of asked this question in another thread and didn't get much of a response, but I'm wondering if any applicants are considering (or have been admitted to) the JD/MA track. Does anyone have experience with joint-degrees? Do you think they'll provide value in the future (i.e. boutique firm, exit options, etc)? Thanks.

My last update was "10/31." I really wanted Duke, and might well have picked it over higher ranked schools for location reasons, but my wife needs to be able to apply for jobs wherever I'm accepted, and it's getting too late for that in her field, so I guess it's CCN for me.
