Hey, I was curious about Financial Aid. What have you heard about other people in your classes scholarship offers/how did your's come about?

Thanks!

If my status checker says "A decision has been reached" rather than WL or DENIED. does this mean good news?? =] don't know if i should get my hopes up because Boalt was a reach from day 1 with 3.71 and 169

They said they regret not offering me a spot in the class of 2014, which is cool I don't want to be in that class anyway. I think I'll attend anyway because they never rejected me for the class of 2015.

just went on my status checker to investigate. Do you have a new decision date on yours? I got in last night, but the date on mine is 3/8. Copied/pasted from my status checker:
Current Status: A decision has been reached

Current Status Date: 3/8/2012

Decision Status: Admitted!

Decision Status Date: 3/8/2012

False alarm. After reviewing thoroughly your application for admission to UC Berkeley School of Law, the Admissions Committee has decided, with regret, not to offer you a place in the Class of 2014. We wish you all the best in your applications to other law schools and in your career. Thank you very much for your interest in Berkeley Law and for entrusting us with your application. A letter will be e-mailed to you in the next 24 hours....

WHAT A TEASE!!! T_T

Maybe it's a lot to ask, but do they tell you what position you're at on the waitlist? At some point I need to give Michigan an answer, and it would be nice to have that info.

I don't think you'll know that until after May when they release the quartile rankings. Last year, they didn't start taking people off until June. If you really want Berk, I would deposit at Michigan (if that's where you want to go) and ride the waitlist.

For anyone who missed the phone call: did you get called back at any point, or just an email sometime later to confirm? Thanks.

Does anyone know about Berkeley's scholarship matching program? I've been fortunate this cycle to get some merit scholarships at other T14 schools, and I'm definitely going to apply to the program. However, I have no idea which scholarship I should ask them to match. Berkeley's website says that you should ask them to match the scholarship form the school you're most likely to attend if you don't go to Berkeley. But is that actually sound advice? LIke, is it better to ask them to match my 60K scholarship at NYU because of the schools I've received scholarships from that's the one I'm most likely to attend, or is it better for me to ask them to match the larger scholarships I got from Michigan and/or Gtown?

Does the matching program mean that they give you the same amount as you have from another school or that they use your scholarship as an impetus to grant you a merit-based scholarship at Berkeley at an amount Berkeley's committee determines??

I would really appreciate any advice anyone has on this. The website says that you can/ should only apply once with one scholarship, and since some of my scholarship offers have early-April deadlines, I should probably get the ball rolling on this process.

Congrats and hope to see you at ASW to all the new admits and good luck to those still waiting (if any)! I'm a Boalt 1L and just wanted to offer to share my opinions about Boalt with anyone who wants to message me and answer any questions that I can (though again, what I know is limited to my experience as a 1L).

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

I was in the first large round of acceptances and have still heard nothing about money. It also may just be the case, though, that I'm not getting any money from them. I filled out my FAFSA on time though.
My understanding is money info comes end of March at the earliest, up to ASW. I went complete 12/1, accepted 12/19, FAFSA in early Feb, and no word.
Wow, that sucks. NYU'S deadline to accept a scholarship is April 6. I really need to hear from Berkeley before then.

Nice seeing Boalt up at #7 again, though it probably just shows how much consideration you should attribute to T10 ranking fluctuations in your decision -- not much. Just like 0L advice!

1L here, willing to troll for Boalt, I'll try to respond as soon as possible.
TLS has no love for B for some reason.

What's even better about this is that we're listed first in the schools that tied for 7th. First place 7th best law school.
