I wanna say there was an email address in the confirmation email we got after RSVPing initially, and it said contact this person if you need to make any changes.crumpetsandtea wrote:How do we update our RSVP again?Eugenie Danglars wrote:Just fyi- there was a list serv email just now requesting more hosts for ASW. But I might be making that up.

Not the slightest. As usual, when in doubt, email the admissions office. I think it's Sarah Arimoto-Mercer coordinating...crumpetsandtea wrote:How do we update our RSVP again?Eugenie Danglars wrote:Just fyi- there was a list serv email just now requesting more hosts for ASW. All loans... damn. I expected this, of course, but I freaked out a little bit when crumps posted her scholarship offer.
I really think I would thrive at Northwestern. But... $240k debt? Best case scenario, working big law, I'd have that paid off by 2020. And, while I'm very confident in my abilities, the life-wrecking possibility of not getting big law or lrapable pi work is small but I cannot let myself ignore it.
I'm not withdrawing just yet because I'd really like to go and I'm having a hard time coming to terms with this. But I don't think I can hang with that level of debt. Fuck. Wish I could say I'd be joining you all next year.

This may be a really stupid question, but I really don't know... can someone please tell me WHERE the financial essays are at?? I submitted my NeedAccess on Mar. 1, but nothing else... I'm not yet admitted (on Hold). Do we apply for fin. aid/scholarship after getting accepted?? I'm confused and kinda worried...

we (holds) haven't gotten the essay prompts yet. Don't worry about it until you're acceptedlily99 wrote:This may be a really stupid question, but I really don't know... can someone please tell me WHERE the financial essays are at?? Once you're accepted, they will send you the prompts and you'll have 7 days to complete the essays. Fin aid is coming out now to the majority of people because the fin aid deadline for people accepted before late feb was March 1.lily99 wrote:This may be a really stupid question, but I really don't know... can someone please tell me WHERE the financial essays are at?? Buzz killington, here
If you're a hold admit, you shouldn't even worry about the FinAid essays because they'll be out of aid by the time you get in.

Alas, probably true, but I think you have to fill out the whole finaid app (essays + FAFSA + NeedAccess) to get a loan package too. (Correct me if I'm wrong, guys.) Although I'd assume the essays matter a lot less (like, not at all) in that case.Flips88 wrote:Buzz killington, here

If you were offered a full scholarship (or deferral w/ scholarship) they don't ask for the essays, so they're not really required for loans. I don't know, but I'd guess if you send them a fafsa and needaccess but no essays they'd still give you loan info.rinkrat19 wrote:Alas, probably true, but I think you have to fill out the whole finaid app (essays + FAFSA + NeedAccess) to get a loan package too. Nearly $80k/year. Oof. Sometimes I question going to law school. This is one of those times.
My personal situation has changed recently, making the financials more complicated, but I still think it's the right decision. I am considering deferral, but it's so expensive that it feels like one of those situations where the timing is never perfect so you just have to go for it. It's not going to be any cheaper next year.
Though looking at some of the scholly awards this year I do feel myself slightly wishing I had waited another year before applying.
Same here, I'm still thinking about next year lol maybe retake the last or something...

Are those really the only options you have? If you have a solid GPA a retake could net you some money.nini11 wrote:I need to look for private scholarships, I want to go to Northwestern!!! I can't sleep anymore god!!!!

I have been admitted to 6 schools, FSU, Umami, UMaryland, and the other ones mentioned, but only the other two gave me scholarships. 3.9 GPA, but quite impatient to start law schoolTiago Splitter wrote:Are those really the only options you have? absolutely positively retake. even at biglaw salary your completely wasting a full year of income by not retaking. Think about it that way. 160k a year after taxes becomes 100k. your literally tossing 90K away by not retaking...

I can understand the desire to get started, but there isn't any reason to be freaked out about the debt since you can still avoid it. Your situation is different from Ryemanhattan's in every way.nini11 wrote:I have been admitted to 6 schools, FSU, Umami, UMaryland, and the other ones mentioned, but only the other two gave me scholarships. 3.9 GPA, but quite impatient to start law school

Question, how does the insurance thing work? Do we have to take some school insurance or something or can we have our own? (or none whatsoever)

I believe you are required to purchase health insurance from the school. I'm sure you could get supplemental insurance if you wanted to.nini11 wrote:Question, how does the insurance thing work? Do we have to take some school insurance or something or can we have our own? (or none whatsoever)

You can have your own. I believe you can choose to have none (unless you are an international student). But seriously, you want health insurance. You really, really do.nini11 wrote:Question, how does the insurance thing work? Do we have to take some school insurance or something or can we have our own? (or none whatsoever)
