Chicago, unless someone else gives me some good money.
NYU, unless my need based aid situation is magically resolved within the next 10 business days.
Ditto on NYU.

Hello NYU friends :) I love Stanford, but I am down for some quality NYC time.

It's hard to know what to make of this cycle. According to LSN, Stanford has both accepted and rejected a number of people who went complete after I did.

stanford tells me they updated my file w/ the loci. is it appropriate to send a quick "thank you" email?

Don't think that's necessary. My theory is that the fewer emails admissions offices get, the happier they are and a 'thank you email,' while nice, is pretty much just clutter.

I'm finally starting to get a bit stir crazy. There are only so many times I can log into the status checker and see "Your file has been submitted for review. 11/03/11".

I was just starting to be ok until everyone and their mother decided to send a LOCI. I am caught between sending and not sending which has left me in a state of indecision.

+1. And I'm debating whether it's worth sending in a LOCI. I don't think it'll matter much either way--I don't have new grades or a new job or some super prestigious honor-- but I'm feeling compelled to do so because so many other people are and I don't want to miss out on a potential opportunity to advocate on my own behalf. Neither my dilemma nor the status checker's "Your file has been submitted for review. 10/2011" is helping my stress level ATM.

At this point in the game, I think it would be best to save the LOCI for if you get waitlisted.

I never was good at getting dates right in kindergarten.

Also, personal statements involving time travel are incredibly risky for the applicant.

FryBreadPower, me too. I'm going to send it though. Because for me (in my mind) a waitlist would be the same as a ding. I dont think I'd be pulled from the waitlist bc I dont have a 180 or 4.0.
What is recently?

Last acceptance on LSN is 3/2

Edit: which means we are quickly approaching three weeks without any acceptances reported on LSN. Good lord.

Yes. Curious that someone would withdraw this early in the game.

Edit: there is also something off about her file.

So Stanford is sipping on the same thing that made Harvard ignore us for 3 weeks...something has to be up...they better make up for this.

Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been covered already, but I haven't had time to follow this thread as closely as perhaps I should have.

What is the situation with LOCI's? Is it a good idea for people that haven't heard back for about 3 months to send one in? Should I wait until I get officially waitlisted?

When you do send it, did you write the LOCI into the text of e-mail or attach it as a document/pdf?

Thanks everyone - best of luck to all of you!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
