by just submitting a LOCI, you are showing interest. What separates a good LOCI from another is the content. I doubt that just coming across as still interested without having much to offer would help you tremendously.lawschoolquestions57 wrote:Hmm, I disagree a bit here. Cool thanks. I'm going to think about this before a little bit more because the only new info is new work experience which I sent in the form of an updated resume. So I gather that a regular LOCI talking about programs and the curriculum would not be helpful?sharktankdean wrote:by just submitting a LOCI, you are showing interest. One thing you could do is describe how this new work experience has broadened your view of law school and also talk about the skills you are gaining in your current job and how they will help you in your law career. Stanford does not have an interview so you can prob use your LOCI as like a 'JS1' or FD1 is you want to get technical. Talk about what you are doing now...how it connects to law and how you can bridge the gap between what you are doing now and your law school career. You can then prob end with a sentence or two telling them about 'why stanford?" I think it wouldn't hurt.Chucky21 wrote:\lawschoolquestions57 wrote:Hmm, I disagree a bit here. it's probably Stanford and not your UG being slow... same thing happened to a lot of us. I had my school send out about 5 pieces of paperwork to different schools, and Stanford processed my dean's cert a solid month after the other schools did.Aqua wrote:argh somehow stanford STILL hasn't received my dean's certification form. tempted to drive to my undergrad to get this straightened out. how r URM cycles doing so far? do i still have a shot? did i ever have a shot? 165, 3.8, half AA

I'd go with year and not life, but it would be pretty amazing. I'm not even going to pretend like I wouldn't jump up and down and scream.

Murphy's Law my friend. There is no way those calls go out tomorrow (that would make life far too easy).sharktankdean wrote:lol.... Ugh. This is NOT positive thinking. Hopefully Dean Deal will make her calls tomorrow. Last year she did a bunch of the early-March/URM acceptance batch on a Friday (3/4) and a Monday (3/7). Here's hoping she doesn't take the whole week... but hey, I'm not complaining. Whatever day I'm lucky enough to receive a call would be a good day.FryBreadPower wrote:Murphy's Law my friend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed too (despite my cynicism). I appreciated your good thoughts in the Columbia thread. I would be more than glad if whatever higher cosmic entity exists allows those good thoughts to be manifested in the form of a phone call from Stanford.amc987 wrote:Ugh. Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Do people get into Stanford even without doing the Stanford-specific LORs? How much of a mark is it against an app that the LORs are non-specific?
My numbers are strong (3.93/177), and I'm in at HLS, but SLS would definitely be my number one choice. Should I just forget about SLS? I'm really kicking myself. My two recommenders wrote me great LORs, but they were both overwhelmed with special projects and soooo slow to get even my standards LORs ready that I figured I'd be in bad shape if I had to wait for them to get the Stanford-focused letters ready.

I had 3 LORs, none of them Stanford-specific, and was blessed with an acceptance. don't worry about it now! strong recs are strong recs, and I'm sure your app is feeling some love over there in Palo Alto.Photog wrote:Do people get into Stanford even without doing the Stanford-specific LORs? Why is SLS>HLS for you?Photog wrote:Do people get into Stanford even without doing the Stanford-specific LORs? How much of a mark is it against an app that the LORs are non-specific?
