$25,000 per year/$75,000 total is also a possibility.foxylaxy wrote:Zelda wrote:What is the range of scholarships we have seen so far?
On LSN it seems to range from 18,000 - 67,500.
Those who posted $18k actually received a 54k total scholarship for 3 years.
The amount posted in ASW is under per year (thus 18k), but the amount in your letter explains that it is for three years (at least that's how I remember it).
So your range is:
The per year amounts are 10k-22.5k.
The total amounts are 30k-67.5k.
More scholarship info will be sent later-some will be eligible for need-based aid in addition to the Dean's scholarship. More merit based scholarships may also go out. (It stated I was eligible on mine, but on others explicitly said they were not).

My younger sister goes to Michigan (undergrad) and I'm cautiously optimistic that she wants her big brother to be around, lol.

Haha, I haven't been accepted so at this point I'm just hoping that happens. A random story here but a professor at my school went to Michigan State, but his daughter went to Michigan, and his brother also went to Michigan. Supposedly every year they have some awkward Thanksgiving dinners...JoeMo wrote:

Friend: did you decide where you're going yet?
me: no, but i got accepted into Michigan
Friend: Michigan State?
me: no, University of Michigan. (thinking: did I say "State?" Why not ask Ann Arbor?)
This has happened a handful of times already, and I get slightly more offended each time and I haven't even committed yet
I guess I just really like the school and it is on the top of my list whatever happens with every other school.

As a side note: Penn students have the worst reactions to this. I've known a lot of brilliant and humble Quakers, but growing up in Pennsylvania, I have interacted with too many who act like Penn UG is on par with a Rhodes. Dissembling ignorance of Penn in the above fashion always guaranteed an amusing reaction.foxylaxy wrote:My conversations go like this:username08 wrote:Haha, I haven't been accepted so at this point I'm just hoping that happens. which prompted me to ask my Penn friend (a grad student) whether Penn accepted too many girls with a penchant for speaking in sentences which seem to be about nothing at all (answer: Yes). I listened to 5 minutes of this and still did not understand what they were talking about. And I am max 5 years older than these girls.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I just received an email from Dean Zearfoss to let me know that she was signing my offer letter! I am still completely shellshocked. For anyone who has any doubts about Michigan's commitment to looking at you entire file and not just the numbers I feel I stand as a pretty good example that they genuinely do. I'm an international applicant with a 164 and a transcript that couldn't be translated into a GPA (all my file said was 'above average'). With those stats, even with the international student factor, I could barely dream of being offered a place at such a wonderful school and had already been rejected by the likes of GW. In fact, I had almost given up on this entire cycle until Dean Zearfoss contacted me! I have such respect for this institution knowing how carefully they must read the thousands of applications they receive in order to ensure a truly diverse class.

I can't diss Penn too much (since I went there and loved it), but I can attest to the whole Not-Penn-State attitude problem. One of the most popular shirts sold on campus has a giant P on it and says "Penn NOT Penn State." Definitely ridiculous.foxylaxy wrote:haha I noticed quite a few of their UG students spoke in this manner:addy11 wrote:As a side note: Penn students have the worst reactions to this.
