+1, I have the same question. I'm thinking 1 - 2 pages double spaced? But I really have no idea since they don't impose any limit.Elendil wrote:Anyone else nominated for a named merit scholarship? Yeah, I figured that would be a safe length since that's generally what they want for a personal statement.thestillpoint wrote:+1, I have the same question. I'm thinking 1 - 2 pages double spaced? I posted something about this earlier and had the same question. So the consensus is 1-2 pages double spaced? "Brief" says around a page to me but i'll probably flesh mine out to a page and a half or so, but we'll see.Elendil wrote:Yeah, I figured that would be a safe length since that's generally what they want for a personal statement.thestillpoint wrote:+1, I have the same question. i think a page is probably sufficient for these essays. they are looking for the same writing skills as the personal statement - concise and efficient writing.

Has anybody who replied to stay on the wait list received a confirmation email? I sent my response on Saturday and expected at least an email saying that they would keep me on the wait list today, but haven't got anything yet.

Just got a call from a PA number. "Hello, this is John from Political Opinions of America..."
dsjfhksdhjgkjd. I don't even think Penn does phone calls, but I was hopeful.

Thanks, man. I'm going to submit all of the suggested materials. I'm also going to try to do my best to visit.cogitoergosum wrote: I think that's the right call, Kevinp. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so. Are you planning to submit any additional materials?

Penn DOES do phone calls (which makes those calls even worse!).hookem12 wrote:Just got a call from a PA number. "Hello, this is John from Political Opinions of America..."

Awesome news! Another potentially significant event that may cause some serious waitlist movement is NYU's acceptance pattern. It is possible that Penn hasn't experienced a noticeable decline in applicants in spite of the nationwide decline, but NYU's higher acceptance rate of Penn's "golden" applicants (170, 3.8+) may sway some of these applicants to choose NYU over Penn.QueMellow wrote: From the TLS Penn Law profile:
The law school also admits a significant number of waitlisted applicants each year: 30 to 40 out of a pool of several hundred. Waitlist review begins in May, and candidates are sometimes accepted late into the summer. The committee invites waitlisted candidates to remain in contact and even submit additional materials, including extra letters of recommendation, new grades, and updated resumes.

Who needs NYU when you'll get into Penn soon enough?
On a side note: Because NYU's endowment is one of the lowest in the T14 and because its class size is one of the largest, it may not have the option to reduce its class size significantly. Therefore, your high LSAT will make you a commodity to NYU.
