My numbers are above 75th percentile for both GPA and LSAT. Should I worry about Penn YPing and include a Why Penn / 5 Year Plan essay to show more interest?

Edit: I meant to include.. I'm mainly asking because I see more yellow than usual on the right side of the graph on LSN.
Yes. Write the essays show you want to put some effort into it. But you problem won't come anyway, so maybe they would be right.

Did anyone else have trouble with Penn's undergraduate employment section on the app? Only 100 characters...

Would they be really mad if I just wrote "see resume?" It's not a required section and I really can't fit everything.

Maybe list your most important stuff and then add something like that at the end?

Does anybody know if it hurts to send an additional optional essay after you've already submitted the ED application?

Anyone know: does scholarship info come with the initial decision or does it come out in the spring?

Almost never comes with the admissions decision. Schollys started to come out in March last year, if I'm not mistaken.

P.S. I'm also a Penn 1L (I've seen a couple other Penn 1Ls in this thread), and I'm happy to answer questions if anyone has them.

I just realized that on my Penn application I skipped question 8 (which area of law you're interested in studying) as it immediately followed the info for joint degree applications (which I skipped because I wasn't one). I wrote about this in my 5 Year Plan essay, is this a mistake I need to e-mail them to correct or would that be shooting myself in the foot?

Finally finished my 5 Year Plan essay and about to submit my ED app. Really, really hope I get in. I did ED to Penn undergrad and ended up getting deferred and rejected, so I hope I can make it this time. :|

So I was finishing my Penn app on Friday, and I decided to take a break before I gave it one more look through. I got a fee waiver in that ten minute break! This school was a big reach for me (166 3.85) but that was a pleasant surprise. Now I'm just worried they sent me a waiver so they could send my application directly to the waitlist.

That's what I figured. It's my last app of this cycle. Now I can just relax until the spring.

It tells you normally Jim, but sometimes you have to enter a code that the school sends you. I received an email letting me know I received one.

If you guys end up on the WL, and you really want to come, stay on it. Good amount of people get off WL, and with numbers below the common wisdom of TLS. People get called all the way up to orientation.

How important do you guys think the optional essay is?

It obviously not as important as your PS, but if you don't write at least one good one, I think the potential to hurt your app is there. For YP purposes it probably doesn't look very good if you don't spend much effort on it.

Is it safe to assume that with a 173 and gpa at their 25th percentile I dont have to worry about YP?

I'd say that's not a safe assumption.

We have a small class, so I think they may be a bit selective in giving out acceptances in any given number combination. Your LSAT opens doors elsewhere, you probably would have to work a little harder to get an acceptance on the first pass than at similar schools with larger classes.
