Maybe... but I've already been deferred from Columbia, and I wanted to send an updated Why X--promising to go--to a school that I know YPs pretty aggressively while I was still complete and not UR. You've been a really great help on the LSAT forums, I sincerely hope you get accepted. Good luck!suspicious android wrote:Shouldn't give up until there's a wave of deferrals, man. What a weird way to find out about your acceptance.LucyVanPelt wrote:Long time lurker, first time poster.
In at Columbia, 171, 3.69 ED, submitted 11/11/2011 and complete 11/17/2011.
Admitted on 12/5 but only found out today: my NYU status checker changed to "application withdrawn from consideration," so of course I call to figure out what's going on. NYU emailed me back to let me know that it's because I had been accepted to another school ED. Called Columbia today to find out that the email never got to me.
Tl;dr - don't give up hope ED applicants! (and talk to the admissions people, they're very helpful)
But Congratulations nonetheless!

Oh, sorry, thought you were giving up on ED, didn't know you were deferred. Still, that whole stiff upper lip thing applies, this cycle is already weird. Yeah, if you're thinking about guarding against notorious yield protectors (wild guess, Penn/UVA?), a school specific letter is probably a good idea.

Just something to cheer up/give false hope to remaining ED applicants:
Last year, 11 people reported ED acceptances, out of 30 applicants on LSN.
This year, we've only got 5 acceptances so far, although only 20 applicants.

This trickle of applicants is driving me crazy. Every time someone gets an acceptance or rejection I start furiously checking my inbox.

I can't imagine they're open Friday. Gotta give people time to get out of time.Kbarbosa08 wrote:does anyone know what date the columbia offices close? if they close at the end of the week then we should all be hearing back by friday right? I'm beginning to wonder if they're waiting for a peak at the rush of December LSAT applicants. I'm sure they'll get a rush in the 24 hours after scores are out, and I imagine they use numbers like that to project their total applications for the year.

Congratulations! So much for the theory that they are going in order of date of submission.Mark_LS wrote:Admitted just now via email.
Foreign applicant, ED, 171/"superior", submitted 26/10.
So today we got reports of admits, deferrals and rejections. Not safe to check our inboxes.

spoke to admissions today....she told me that ED applicants arent on a rolling basis, only RD, so no need to worry if you didnt get a response yet, it could mean good or bad.

Edit: I'm dying watching all these people with my numbers get into Chicago and NYU. It should make me feel more confident but it only makes me hope I didn't make a mistake with my ED.
