And no more JMJ in this thread it seems. Ugh. Life is not being very cool right now.

Can someone already accepted or something muster up the energy to look at LSN at overanalyze/speculate about our chances now?
Dude, I'll be around again in late May. It looks like that's when they start reevaluating holds. I will be lurking to see if you get in tho

Wait, why do people assume Columbia will stop sending out acceptances these coming weeks?

I still think we'll see more this week, but this will be the last batch. I doubt I'll be in it :(

For holds the last day for a decision was the 24th.

I don't think anybody is saying that. Nobody really knows when they'll stop since this cycle is running so much behind last years. But I do agree with Mr. Somebody that the 24th is a good estimate for some sort of stopping point.

Coming from the guy who is really really hoping they're not done yet....

Is there any way to know how many candidates Columbia let in last year and where we currently stand this year without going page by page on LSN?

It would be interesting to know how many they let in, how many have withdrawn - realizing that this is not complete. If I have time, I may look. Just may give us a better idea how how many spots are left if any.

Are you talking about going forward? Nobody got into Columbia last year after 3/28.

He's talking about total NUMBERS. That would give us an indication of how many more people they might be willing to accept.

Also--decisions started going out around this time yesterday.

Your wish is my command.

Last year Columbia accepted 195 applicants on LSN. This year 180 acceptances have gone out. 81 withdrew last year, so far 41 have withdrawn this year. 46 of last years acceptances ended up attending, and so far this year 12 have said that they're attending. Also, 2 deferrals so far this year and there was one last year.

ETA: There were 712 total applicants on LSN last year and there are 649 this year. Proportionally that means Columbia accepted 27.39% of LSN applicants in 2011. So far for 2012 they have already accepted 27.73%... Which means they're in all likelyhood basically done with acceptances. I sure hope they have one or two left...

Sorry, I'm writing my thesis, but can you do a tl;dr version of this multi-variable problem?

Great job man--just one thing. The fact that the overall numbers have gotten smaller but the percentage has stayed the same means they so far have less people admitted than they need for the class (assuming, of course, they are keeping the class the same size).

Sorry for all the posts, but that's actually a good point. If there are less applicants this year and they want to maintain their class size then the percentage will have to rise. Good catch.

I'm thinking that Thu/Fri will be the next big decision day, with the last big day coming around the 23-6th.

Didn't we agree awhile ago that they did?

Also--someone on LSN just got waitlisted. My new theory: everyone who was going to get accepted was accepted yesterday, Reserves from this point on, starting now.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
