I'm surprised to see the forgotten is such a large and prestigious group. Gives me hope.

I wrote an email the other day, just to see where my application is, since we all know the status checker is completely unhelpful. Got this reply back:

"Thank you for your interest in Columbia Law School. A decision letter was sent on your behalf on March 6, 2012. You should be receiving it in the mail shortly."

My guess is that they finally mailed me my rejection. Still, those of you with a 'complete' date of around 1/19 might have some answers soon...

Could very well be your VCE in the mail! I'm curious how you phrased your email, was it just a short question about your application status? I went complete the first week of November, and I'd definitely like to know the status of my application!

Sure, here's the text of my letter:

Dear Columbia Admissions,

My name is ______ (L______), and I am writing in order to follow up with my application, which was registered as complete on January 19. I understand that you receive a significant volume of applications, and that the admissions committee has only a limited time to review those applications in any given week, but I would feel much better knowing that my application has not been lost or misplaced during the last few months. I used to work at an admissions office myself for a little while at [school name], so I understand that you cannot release any specific information or timeline for review, but I would appreciate it if you could just physically confirm that my application still exists somewhere in your office.

I apologize for the extra work, and thank you for taking the time to indulge me in this.

Sincerely,
[Name]

I think that the people who say that there's little difference between held applicants and those who have yet to hear anything from CLS may be right. Remember that the spreadsheet is a very small and likely unrepresentative sample of all the applicants, so don't pay too much attention to the averages below.
According to the spreadsheet, the average LSAT score for held applicants is a 169.3; the average GPA score for held applicants is 3.79. The average LSAT score for “radio silence” people is a 169.7; the average GPA score for “radio silence” people is a 3.68.
For non-URM students, the average LSAT score for held applicants is a 172.8; the average GPA score for held applicants is 3.85. The average LSAT score for “radio silence” non-URM applicants is a 171.8; the average GPA score for “radio silence” non-URM applicants is a 3.78.
To improve our data, remember to put your stats into the form.
Here is the form: --LinkRemoved--
Here is the spreadsheet summarizing the responses: --LinkRemoved--

Thanks for sharing! I wrote up a short email about my situation (you'd think four months would be enough time for them to figure out a response). This is what I received as a reply about 20 minutes later:

"Dear TSP,

Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications we've received it is not possible for us to give you a specific timeline on when you will be receiving a decision letter. Please know that every effort is made to inform all applicants of their decision by the end of April.

Best wishes"

Looks like I'm in for more waiting!

Happy for you, but darn, not being in the same group as you anymore is a little disconcerting

Knowing that my own response has been sent in roughly the same group as these acceptances is making me uncomfortably hopeful. Can anyone confirm a rejection? Please help keep me level-headed...

So my sister tells me that I got a letter from Columbia saying I'm admitted and I'm freaking out a little bit....

She sent me a pic but the letter says "Dear Admitted Student," and "Congrats again on your acceptance", nothing with my name on it and I this is my first letter (that I know of) that I've received from them. I tried logging on the admitted students website, but I'm not able to...pw is just admitcls2015 right? Anyone else having trouble logging in?

Sorry this post is all over the place. I didn't even think I had a chance at Columbia. 171, 3.77, non-urm. I still don't believe it. What else can I do to confirm?

Yeah I really want to go celebrate but I still can't believe it's true....I don't want to get my hopes all up, only to find out it was a mistake! :?

Check the letter date as mine had the updated password. There should have been a small card with the updated one as well.

Also, I would advise against posting the password on the internet
