I just want to point out that my Thursday Theory has received further validation today. :)

JS interview request today! Here's the email if it's helpful to anyone as this site has been incredibly helpful to me. I submitted in late November and went complete on 1/5. My numbers are in my profile. Also I'm a K-JD so there is definitely hope for those coming straight out of undergrad.

Thanks for applying to Harvard Law School!

I just read your file and would like to set up a phone interview with you. Our interviews are relatively informal - I'm hoping to have a brief conversation with you about what you're interested in and to learn more about you.

I'll plan on giving you a call between xxxxxxx. I'll use the number you listed with your present mailing address on your application. If this number won't work or if the time is completely unworkable for you, please reply to this e-mail and we'll reach out to coordinate.

I look forward to speaking with you!

Congrats on the JS!

Just a side question here. I submitted on Jan 30, right before the deadline. From past years, does anyone know when deadline submits typically hear back? Is it like March/April, or late into summer?

Got JS1 request yesterday. Stats in profile + post history.

Pretty nervous about it. Time to start making cliff notes of my responses and pour out a few shots to take before expecting the call.

Good luck. When did you go under review? I've been under review since mid-December. All crickets.

Held today as well. Can we get a quick refresher on what it means to be held at Harvard? How grim is it? Do many people get in after being held?

I will probably send them additional info.

Literally what they say it is... just aren't ready to make a decision on your application yet. Could end up being an acceptance, rejection, or waitlist depending on the class profile. Not terrible but not wonderful news either. It's not a death sentence, at the very least.

I got held too. I'm a bit more hopeful though, considering JS is new to the game and might have relatively high standards for holds

I wish I was that optimistic :) However, my numbers are pretty low for HLS. So, I do not have much hopes :|

OK well - if holds do get in, I'm not too bummed. There's hope.

Do people get outright rejected, though? Or is "hold" the place where all future rejections go, so therefore isn't a real indication of where you stand?

People have gotten dinged. The hold pool this year is much larger than previous years though and seems to include a much wider range of candidates number-wise.

Holds appear to be different this year from last year because they've held an enormous number of people with a variety of stats. I went through last year's hold thread a while back and posted how many people got in, but I can't remember now. I'll find it later. It wasn't a huge number, but it also wasn't no one.

Hold pool is by no means much larger, last year, everyone on TLS got held on the same day almost.
