Assume away. Nobody really knows a damn thing. If your profile numbers are real I think you still have a decent shot though.BKB wrote:Not dinged yet.....submitted in Oct.

This is what I am hoping for. Even though my numbers are nowhere near stellar with my reverse splitterness, the fact that I submitted early Oct and havent heard a peep is actually giving me hope!BKB wrote:Not dinged yet.....submitted in Oct.

was anyone (on TLS at least) given notice of being held?lats19nys wrote:http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/admissions ... %E2%80%9D/
I guess if you submitted in Mid/Earlyish November and before and you didn't at least get a hold, it def doesn't look good.

Yeah wtf. That post freaked me out. Are they going to be sending out more holds early next week?EMZE wrote:was anyone (on TLS at least) given notice of being held?lats19nys wrote:http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/admissions ... %E2%80%9D/

The blog says 2 months from your complete date. So even if you submitted early November, if your complete date wasn't until late November it still hasn't been two months yet

I'm a international student, therefore that GPA probably carries little weight.Nelson wrote:Assume away. Nobody really knows a damn thing. If your profile numbers are real I think you still have a decent shot though.BKB wrote:Not dinged yet.....submitted in Oct.

Anyway, there seems no undergraduate has ever got into HLS directly from my university. So a WL is not that bad.

I would say that unless you actually went complete in late October, the new holds don't necessarily apply to you. I also have a couple friends that got dinged (either today or yesterday). So if you didn't actually get dinged either, they probably just still haven't gotten to you yet.lats19nys wrote:true. i'm still worried since ppl with with very late october submissions and even a few early november submission ppl have been getting dinged.Dani.B wrote:The blog says 2 months from your complete date. I find it interesting that nobody here has reported being held despite the blog post stating that the "first set" of holds has gone out. (sorry if I missed someone.) This suggests that it was a very small set. I was under the impression that holds are relatively common. More are coming.AmandaPB wrote:Well fuck. Keep in mind that until that blog post went up, the consensus was that it was good to be 2+ months complete with radio silence. It was presumed that they were going in chronological order, which meant that you had been spared yesterday's axe and were likely headed for hold/WL, at least.
Also, note the explanation of the "hold" in the blog post: "Because we have a rolling admission process and your application has been complete for at least two months, we want let you know that we need some more time to re-examine it in the context of the broader applicant pool." This does not support the theory of "you're screwed if you go 2 months and hear nothing." It seems likely they are willing to give out holds after 2.5 months, 3 months and beyond. What about all the TLSers who submitted in September? Are they "ineligible" for holds because they applied early and the holds didn't start until January?
Here's another possibility, for whatever that's worth: the order is basically meaningless. They have a pile of rejections, which probably is restricted to applications that are at least 2 months old. They are continuously plowing through that. They have a hold pile, all 2+ months old, which they are also plowing through. Contained in both the hold and reject piles are applications from September-early November, people who haven't heard anything so far but probably will very soon. We know that they don't go always through the piles that fast, because they sent out a "set" of holds that was very small.
They may have a KB1 pile, and who knows: even this may include some Sept/Oct people. For all we know there are people on "quasi-hold': September applications who didn't make the first cut but after the Oct/Nov/Dec applications come in, Harvard picks them up again.
In summary: let's not lose hope.

For all of us waiting for holds, WLs, KB1s, and KB2s...does anyone want to create a list of all the stats of people were accepted, people who had KB1s but no KB2s, and people who have gotten rejected?
Or is there already a list of this at LSN? I have yet to jump on the LSN bandwagon...

Here you will at least be able to see the list of accepted/rejected and those still waiting. I don't think there is any way to search on LSN for those who has KB1s and no KB2s.
The only thing I think is worth mentioning is a lot of people alter their numbers a little bit so adcoms wouldn't be able to identify them (and see their entire cycle).
This still should be pretty useful though.

It seems like last year they held quite a few people held, and the holds came the Monday after the initial WL bloodbath the Friday before (interestingly enough, this also occurs around page 100 of the Harvard C/O 2014 thread).planeride wrote:I find it interesting that nobody here has reported being held despite the blog post stating that the "first set" of holds has gone out. It would seriously surprise me if they had finished their holds (or gotten very far into the list) and no one on TLS was on that list or knew people on it. I think maybe the blog post was a bit premature and that we'll be hearing on Monday.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Application sent on Nov 22nd
complete Dec 13th
Under review Dec 22nd
NO KB1
STATS: GPA 3.99 LSAT 174
2 years of work experience.
Strong softs and at the very least good LORs
I was feeling okay about things but the lack of kb1 and the recent rejections make me feel as though I'm in a boat with a minor leak in it, stranded in the middle of the ocean.
Damn Jaws, stop circling me and just end it already

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
I too as suspect of a set of holds so small that no one here reported any personally or anecdotally. I mean, it makes sense for the office to post the message before they sent the emails to reduce wave of questions that they'll no doubt still receive. I submitted Nov 2 and haven't heard anything yet so as sad as it sounds, I'll be praying for a hold this week!
Also, lol at the explicit request not to send another LOR. I totally followed TLS wisdom and kept a forth on file at LSAC for such situations. Oh well!

I feel as if most schools have been completely ignoring me this cycle; even Harvard is refusing to send me my rejection.

I hate to be a downer but I think it's extremely likely that the reason some of us haven't heard is because the rejections are going to continue on monday. In previous years it's taken them several days. They didn't seem to go exactly in order with these anyway. Hoping for better news for everyone though!

This may be an ignorant question, but what exactly is a hold? How is it different from a WL? I am assuming that Held merely says a decision hasn't been rendered and will be rendered at a later date. Although this is just a shot in the dark.

Yeah, that's sounds about right. The hold means they're going to review the app again along with new apps I believe, to create the initial acceptance offers list; whereas a WL, at Harvard at least, seems to indicate that you probably won't hear about until people with KB2s begin accepting/denying their offers.FryBreadPower wrote:This may be an ignorant question, but what exactly is a hold?
