I actually think we may see some apps switch over to "under review" towards the end of the week. That was at least the case last year (around Oct 6th), with a handful then receiving their JR1 a week later. They still had to wait till just before Thanksgiving though fora JR2 (if it came)....

Yeah, probably. Only auto-admits hear back pre-Thanksgiving. It takes a lot longer for others.freestallion wrote:Just sent in my app... soo freaking nervous. I want to get in so bad, but it probably ain't happening -____-

Well...from what I took reading through last year's thread, it seems that people pretty much went under review based upon their submission dates, not their numbers. However, yes, the people that saw quick JR1s has really good numbers and most seem to have been accepted. They were saying that overall like 700-800 people get accepted from 1100-1200ish JR1s, but that the pre-Thanksgiving crowd had an overall much higher rate (they also had ridiculous medians like 176 for LSAT, 3.93 for GPA, so generally the top candidates numbers-wise). About 300 of those types getting interviewed and close to 80% being accepted within 6 weeks and the rest eventually being accepted as the cycle continues (though accounts varied).Hawkeye Pierce wrote:Yeah, probably. Still, people were panicking about being under review for 3 weeks and not getting a JR1 toward the end of October. By the first week of Nov, some were already losing hope. It does seem most of this group were eventually held - from that group, a smaller number got JR1s in the spring and got in, many were WL, and some rejected. But they still went under review largely based on their application date.

People with numbers like 3.92+ GPA, 176+ LSAT.bleylaw wrote:what are auto-admits i see this everywhere
ETA: This is only valid under the assumption that the other parts of their application is not sorely lacking in some way.

Hmmm interesting tidbits from an HLS info session...apparently Josh Rubenstein has left HLS admissions....Karen Buttenbaum will be conducting all phone interviews and will be running the office until a replacement is found.

Does this mean we have to call them KB1s?
What was she like? What's her background?

Looks like she's been in the admissions office there for at least a few years.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
KB conducted interviews a few years back when Toby Stock left as dean of admissions. She's been at HLS admissions for about a decade and has served as director of admissions most of that time. She was a really nice lady and is extremely down to earth. She's also pregnant, so hopefully a new dean is found before she's on leave, as well.MumofCad wrote:Does this mean we have to call them KB1s?

Weird. I guess that ends my vague daydream to wander into the admissions office and chat with him about my application (last year).blizxxfly wrote:Hmmm interesting tidbits from an HLS info session...apparently Josh Rubenstein has left HLS admissions....Karen Buttenbaum will be conducting all phone interviews and will be running the office until a replacement is found.

What do you mean? To mention she's pregnant? Or for her to be pregnant? Either way, the answer is yes.
Wondering if this change will delay things. I guess it just depends on whether it was expected or sudden. Humphf. We'll have to wait and see.

Without knowing the circumstances, I assume the the condition is appropriate. I was questioning the wisdom of posting it on a public website.MumofCad wrote:delusional wrote:question because I'm not sure of the answer myself - is that appropriate?blizxxfly wrote: She's ..... so hopefully a new dean is found before she's on leave, as well.

I would say if she is visibly pregnant to strangers, it's fine. I'm 7 months pregnant and people are just starting to notice. It cracks me up, because I've been huge forever. I guess they just thought my ab machine was broken or something.

I guess I have to go with your judgement then.MumofCad wrote:delusional wrote: Without knowing the circumstances, I assume the the condition is appropriate. I was questioning the wisdom of posting it on a public website.
