If I've been UR since 12/12, should I send a LOCI or something? I'm like 98% sure I'm waitlisted or rejected...

I've been UR since like 11/21. General consensus is to wait until WL unless you think you're gonna get rejected.jeninamillion wrote:If I've been UR since 12/12, should I send a LOCI or something? I'm like 98% sure I'm waitlisted or rejected...

NYU updated my address today. I be optimistic and take this trivial event as a positive sign.

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
I have lost faith lol. I'm still UR from 11/7. It's all good though, I feel like those people who neglect and forget what they have (M, V, B) in hopes of something they can't have (NYU). It's time for me to grow up and be a man lol.JamMasterJ wrote:I've been UR since like 11/21. I'm not sure... 3.6/171(retake from 170) would be borderline right? Like waitlist stats?JamMasterJ wrote:I've been UR since like 11/21. Thanks, I guess I'll wait. I'm just starting to freak out because people who submitted in December are getting accepted left and right.luxxe wrote:It has been a month.jeninamillion wrote:If I've been UR since 12/12, should I send a LOCI or something? I'm like 98% sure I'm waitlisted or rejected...

Not auto-admit, but not auto-reject. You're under both medians, but considering the small number of qualified applicants, I'd say this is the best cycle to apply in a long time. Good luck!Killingly wrote:Hahahahahahaha.WhiteGuy5 wrote:What are your stats again?Killingly wrote:NYU updated my address today. I be optimistic and take this trivial event as a positive sign.

Why do you say there is a small number of qualified applicants this cycle? Are there stats posted somewhere?

Hah, thanks. I'll need it. I have a secret weapon, but I'm not sure how much of an impact it will make.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Not auto-admit, but not auto-reject. Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
I think s/he means because the number of applicants is down this year, by quite a bit. When that happens, top schools pull from lower down than they "normally" would. Why do you say there is a small number of qualified applicants this cycle? Are there stats posted somewhere?

Oh my god...just missed a phone call (was in the bathroom, how embarrassing), checked voicemail and it was a congratulations message. O_____O had to listen to the message like 7 times because I couldn't believe it said 'NYU'. And got in to the admitted students website so I guess that's that!!
Should I call back? Do people usually if they miss the call?

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Is it worth it/should I write a LOCI? I haven't had an update since I went UR on 11/14. My numbers are at the bottom end of the median (3.6/169), but I do have a more unique major (genetics) and I am legitimately interested in NYU, not just as another T14. I heard to wait for a loci until you're WLed but I (the optimistic side of me) feel like I've been sitting in a pile of "?" applications (and hopefully not just a reject pile they forgot to notify...)

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
You could write a Why NYU to express legitimate interest, as you said, and just request it be added to your file. Then you could save the true LOCI. Unless you've already done a Why NYU of course.mithriliel wrote:Is it worth it/should I write a LOCI? I haven't had an update since I went UR on 11/14. Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
I think a LOCI is fine to write. It's not like writing one now precludes writing one later. You would just have to make sure you still have material to mention in a second one if you get WLed.mithriliel wrote:Is it worth it/should I write a LOCI? I will say that I am aware of applicants from last cycle that had great success with early LOCIs. I did not write any, so I can speak from personal experience.

Checking in. I applied on 11/04. Last update was UR on 11/17. I'm not really sure what to expect at this point. Bracing for reject. Stats in profile.

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Quick question for you guys about a LoCI. My girlfriend applied to NYU with slightly below median LSAT, above median GPA (seems to have a 50/50 shot according to LSN). She applied in the 11/22 group and is from an incredibly poor area and so wrote about that instead of a "why NYU" in her application. She hasn't heard anything from them since applying. She is very public interest and is very interested in NYU because she loves NYC, loves the public interest background that NYU has and has heard great things about it from me (FYI I am a NYU Law grad-will that carry any weight?)
I know the consensus seems to be no LoCI until you hear from the school, but she actually has some compelling reasons about why NYU which she hasn't told them. Well, I think they are compelling. Feel free to disabuse me of that notion if I am wrong.
Thanks and good luck all!
