Retrieving money from seat deposit after the deadline?
Is there any way or does any know of a situation where someone was granted a refund of their seat deposit ?
I gave my the two deposits for a school but was admitted to another school 3 weeks or so later, which is pretty much 2 1/2 weeks after the deposit refund date. I was hoping to talk to someone in the financial aid office to try and get some of the money back, it's close to $1000, down the drain essential. I know it's easy to say that now that I was accepted elsewhere but still, shouldn't I be granted some sort of refund? Any ideas on how to go about getting some money back?
If this is not the correct place to post this question please let me know!

ps. that was too easy, sorry. I have a feeling you won't get it back. In the long run it is a minor expense, though now of course it seems rough,

No... you won't get it back. That's why it's a deposit and there's deadlines and such. Sorry bro.

This. Also, "refund date"? Do some schools offer refunds? The deposits I saw were all non-refundable, period.Hippononymous wrote:No... you won't get it back. That's why it's a deposit and there's deadlines and such. Sorry bro.

Actually you need to check the school's website. Cornell does refund some of your deposit if you withdraw by a certain date. There may be other schools that do it as well but Cornell is the only one i noticed.
