Do you have any substantial scholarships to T30 schools? They might be better than lower T-14 at sticker anyway.

Where are you from? Where do you want to work? What other schools did you get into?TheOcho wrote:Early. Late October/Early November.

I'm from the Upper Midwest. No real preference for work, with minor exceptions.chimp wrote:Where are you from? Where do you want to work? What other schools did you get into?TheOcho wrote:Early. Late October/Early November.
In at Texas (77k), WUSTL (84k), George Washington, UMN (60k), ND (56k), Iowa (128k), Indiana-B (120k), BU (75k), W&M (56k I think, withdrew a long time ago), Illinois (90k). WL'ed everywhere else with the exception of BC and Virginia (rejected).

Well then since you have no preference as far as location is concerned and want biglaw I would maybe take the money at Texas (unless you really don't want to end up in Texas). Why did you withdraw from Georgetown? Because they didn't offer any $?

Yeah, I didn't want Georgetown at sticker. The only schools still left that I would consider at sticker are Michigan and Duke. Texas is giving me about 77k.chimp wrote:Well then since you have no preference as far as location is concerned and want biglaw I would maybe take the money at Texas (unless you really don't want to end up in Texas). Edit: I'm still on WL's at Vandy and UCLA. Withdrew from USC when they asked for the video interview ha.

I would wait out the Duke and Michigan WLs and go to UT if you don't get off either WL.TheOcho wrote:Yeah, I didn't want Georgetown at sticker. Re: Would you reapply?
Is that advice based on the fact that even if I reapply earlier next year and don't ED to either it's still going to be a toss-up and I'll likely end up in a similar position anyway? That's my biggest concern in the event I decided to reapply.chimp wrote:I would wait out the Duke and Michigan WLs and go to UT if you don't get off either WL.TheOcho wrote:Yeah, I didn't want Georgetown at sticker. That advice is based on the fact that you want biglaw and that you may see similar results next year (which means you basically wasted a year of your life). Just my 17 cents.TheOcho wrote:Is that advice based on the fact that even if I reapply earlier next year and don't ED to either it's still going to be a toss-up and I'll likely end up in a similar position anyway? I would go to UT. With those stats, I don't see your next cycle being significantly different. I could see you pulling Cornell and maybe Michigan next year, but do you really think either of those are worth waiting a year and paying sticker?

I personally think Michigan would be worth it, but who knows if it will be worthwhile for OP to reapply with the same numbers...It would definitely be a gamble.xcountryjunkie wrote:I would go to UT. Re: Would you reapply?
If it makes a difference, my applications went out with a 169/3.69 and my LSDAS GPA increased after Fall semester to 3.75 and now it will be 3.77.chimp wrote:I personally think Michigan would be worth it, but who knows if it will be worthwhile for OP to reapply with the same numbers...It would definitely be a gamble.xcountryjunkie wrote:I would go to UT. I think texas is the way to go, but if you're interested I think you should shoot for more money from WUSTL. We have very similar numbers and I got $40K/year. I might still take Texas with your current deal over WUSTL though.

I already withdrew from WUSTL. At this point it basically comes down to whether or not I could expect to snag one of Michigan, Duke, or a similar peer next year (would probably ED).j12bash wrote:I think texas is the way to go, but if you're interested I think you should shoot for more money from WUSTL. Yes, just take the money at TX and run with it. Unless you retake, there's no guarantee you'll have a much better cycle. And retaking an LSAT that high is a crapshoot anyway.

Re: Would you reapply?
I have a similar question:
I have a 3.25 (but it'll probably be bumped up to around a 3.3ish after this quarter) / 175
and after my terrible application cycle, I feel that I've seriously overestimated my odds
I applied out around late December to the t14 + UCLA, USC
and I've been waitlisted at:
Columbia
Northwestern
GULC
UPenn
UMich
Cornell
I've been dinged from the rest.
Was I kidding myself by not applying out to lower ranked schools??
Would it really help my applications to the t14 if I worked for half an year and applied again for the next cycle?? Or do I need to just lower my expectations and apply out to lower ranked schools??

Probably not. Either ED, work 2 years and shoot for NU, or get used to the idea of GW/the midwestern splitter gulags.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
