Maybe I am just hoping for my personal sake, but it seems logical. Once they set their medians, they finish out the last few slots in their class with people they want for non-numbers reasons (work experience, LORs/PS, curing an epidemic, or overthrowing a corrupt african regime)ElvisAaron wrote:Waitlisted, Accepted

To me this says Lsat matters LESS to WLs, not more.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2011
Some anecdotal info prompted me to check those stats - being local its been surprisingly easy to make some HLS connections, and I have spoken with 4 people who were pulled from the WL in the past few years (1TS, 3JRs). Small sampling, yes...but Lsats were 167URM,171,171,173, all had >3.9 gpas and 3 of 4 had something very impressive in their WE, 1 had an HLS faculty rec.tipler4213 wrote:

In the end though all this info we have is from such a small sample that the m/e could be +/-20 or something ridiculous. Its all just conjecture for anxious minds to keep busy.

The deposit deadline is this weekend!!! Soooo...movement next week if they follow last year's pattern. And it looks like WL -> JR1 = Win. So basically that email for the lucky few will be gold.

This has become my motivational video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX5jNnDMfxA
I think it's fairly pertinent.

So has that big red peak of rejections happened yet this year? If not, a storm's a brewing . . .

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2011
I just posted this on the Harvard applicants page, but since we're all WL left, I thought I'd post it here:
Last year, the first email invitation for WL--> admit interview was May 6th. I think we could hear as early as friday.
Additionally, I wanted to note that, as far as TLS was concerned, every person asked to interview was admitted, although a couple people had to wait a few days to hear back (but most heard at the end of their phone call).
Furthermore, the first calls were to URMs, specifically AA URMs with high GPAs and lower LSATs. The majority of the admitted students were AA URMs, but that could very well have to do with a failure to successfully recruit AA URMs last year- it could be very different this year.
I'm hoping they decide they want higher LSATs this year, and not higher GPAs

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2011
Bored, just went through the LSN lists for the past few cycles to see what date the first WL admits were listed (ignoring single ones pre-May, which are either mis-listed or flukes I assume):
2006: Some people who had been "deferred" in Jan and nothing since got in 5/12, first official WL admits on 5/15.
2007: 5/9
2008: 5/7
2009: 5/22 (I know...but from looking at profiles it looks like some of those people got the JR1 email 5/15, so movement wasn't SO late)
2010: 5/10
Anyways, the point I get out of it is that we're more likely to start hearing back next week...if even .
PS: Don't know where the data for that chart that I copied above comes from...

I just got my first Jr1 off the wait list... I'm kind of freaking out right now Is this a good sign, or should I severely temper my excitement? I'm just really shocked.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2011
Congrats everyone who's heard. FYI, in some years some people with a pre-WL jr1 got in without another interview, and in other years those people had a so-called jr1b
Good luck, I think at this point it's more of a formality but know roughly what you're going to say anyways! Let us know how it goes.
