Yield Protect Why Do It?

Can someone please explain to me why schools YP? Im having trouble understanding it.

Schools are ranked based on the percent of applicants they admit. By not admitting people who won't matriculate, they lower that ratio. Michigan would look pretty TTT if they admitted 30% of applicants.
