Hold category at FSU

Post by KM89 » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:31 pm

Hello to all fellow applicants! FSU is my first pick of law schools, since I want to specialize in environmental law, and they have the 5th best program in the nation. I applied in November, and was put into their "hold" cateogry in late February. I went ahead and sent in a LOCI, which they received last week. I know this isn't the waitlist, but I'm freaking out! Does anyone out threre have more knowledge regarding the "hold" category? I was told over the phone that it is not ranked, and that I will hear back from them anytime between now and the end of May. Another problem is this: I was accepted with a full ride to Florida Coastal, and the first seat deposit is due by April 15th. If I pay this seat deposit, does this mean I have to go there...or does it simply save me a space (and reserve my scholarship) in case I do not get accepted into FSU? Any advice is welcome!

I'm in a very similar position. I'm on hold at FSU. I want to do environmental law. And I have a seat deposit due April 15th. If you pay the deposit you are not forced to go. However, you likely won't be able to get that money back. Just be sure that if you get into FSU, you inform Florida Coastal that you're withdrawing.

Yeah, I'm going to visit FSU on Aril 1st...hoping my chances of admission will be increased. I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay the seat deposit at FCSoL...and then pray that FSU accepts me! Best of luck to you! :)
