Weird Results? Forum

Hey all-

Just hoping to get some feedback about how unusual these results are. I've been waitlisted at quite a few schools where I thought I was an auto-admit with a 172/163 and 3.92 GPA:

Virginia
Georgetown
Duke
Berkeley (rejected)

Could this be because I applied in mid-January, or does my app just suck?

Honestly, I would say a little from column A and a little from column B.

Not to say your applications sucked, but its relative and I'm sure those schools had a lot of amazing applications.

Honestly, I would say a little from column A and a little from column B.

Not to say your applications sucked, but its relative and I'm sure those schools had a lot of amazing applications.

I don´t necessarily think it´s unusual, I honestly don´t think auto-admits happen as much as we think (hope) they do. Maybe the reader just didn´t like your PS or they were looking for a certain characteristic in courses taken. There are way too many variables to be able to confidently say you´re an auto-admit.

I was also rejected from Berk if it makes you feel better.

Well we can't know if you app sucked. Your numbers do not make you an auto-admit applying in mid-January. Had you been complete in late October/early November, different story.
