Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
I've been a lurker on here for a while and I think this is my first post, but I wanted to share my experience to give you all hope. I was on the SPWL. I was put on the list 3/11 and immediately sent a LOCI and then also called a little over a week ago after the "Waitlist Update" E-mail. My status updated to 4/1 and then I got the subtle acceptance e-mail today at about 10:30. My status is now updated to 4/5.
My numbers are 165 and 3.72, so all of you people out there who are looking at LSN and think there's no chance, there is. Have hope and be pesky. Also, I'm a white male, so no URM advantage or anything.
Good luck to everyone else!

I think I'm going to withdraw from SPWL. They place *a lot* of emphasis on only staying on if you plan to attend, and I'm 95% sure I'm going to defer another year to get some work experience and earlier apps. If it was for another school, I'd stay on, but I still really want Georgetown and I don't want to make them angry for next year.

I think the problem may be that you can't defer after being accepted from a waitlist.

I'm preferred waitlist (not special). Anyone know if many people were getting off of the regular preferred list last year?

I saw somewhere that about 50/500 get off, but that number changes slightly year to year.NewIvy wrote:I'm preferred waitlist (not special). Anyone know if many people were getting off of the regular preferred list last year?

Did anyone who got the "suggestive" email on Tuesday receive an official acceptance letter by mail yet?

That's just for the preferred. I believe everyone or close to everyone has gotten off the special preferred waitlist in the past.ls24 wrote:is that just off the preferred?? or everyone on all three waitlists?jcdc wrote:I saw somewhere that about 50/500 get off, but that number changes slightly year to year.NewIvy wrote:I'm preferred waitlist (not special). Just to let you guys know, I was regular preferred and received the "suggestive" email on 4/8. Received the PWL email on 2/28, submitted LOCI on 4/1.

Are there many SPWL who did not withdraw without an offer. I am in that position. I am wondering maybe they think that I have not shown much interest... or maybe they do not think I am special.

Right here. I have sent an LOCI and a lengthy email of interest. I'm still hanging on, but more and more concerned about going with zero aidantonin wrote:Are there many SPWL who did not withdraw without an offer. I am in that position. That is my worry too. I have heard that sometimes you can get money out of waitlists though. I prefer georgetown to a number of other higher ranked schools, primarily cause of location.

Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
I am on the extra regular non-special waitlist and have received nothing since the "do you still want to be on the waitlist?" email last month. I sent a lengthy response but have not sent a LOCI, mostly because I'm a working professional and really have nothing extravagant to add in my LOCI that I did not say in the email. Has anyone been pulled from the extra regular waitlist at all? Do you think it is worth it to send a LOCI that basically reiterates my interest expressed in the email? Thanks.

Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
I honestly don't think it ever hurts to send another LOCI or email expressing interest. They pulled from the Regular Waitlist last year (at times before puling from the PWL or SPWL). I think it just depends on what holes they are needing to fill, so you might as well give it a shot!
