"Sloppy Seconds" -- The Waitlist Thread (10/11)
I'm not sure if a similar thread exists so apologies in advanced if there is a redundancy. I created this thread so unfortunate people like me could vent their frustrations about being waitlisted. I hope to be a sloppy second in the near future, I'm currently wait listed at four schools.

LOL. I'm waitlisted at 2 of my top 3 choices, GW and UVA. Haven't heard from my third top choice, but if it's a WL I'm going to be pissed.femme wrote:I'm not sure if a similar thread exists so apologies in advanced if there is a redundancy. If it weren't for Texas, I'd be pretty sure I was going to end up with a 4 acceptance/14 WL cycle.

Looking at your LSAT score, I cannot understand the decisions you've gotten. Although at least Illinois (*sniffle*) appreciates you!Hannibal wrote:If it weren't for Texas, I'd be pretty sure I was going to end up with a 4 acceptance/14 WL cycle.

Did you withdraw everywhere you were waitlisted? Or are you riding some out?Hannibal wrote:If it weren't for Texas, I'd be pretty sure I was going to end up with a 4 acceptance/14 WL cycle.

Actually I prematurely said I withdrew from some of those, I'm actually gonna ride a lot of them out.DeeCee wrote:Did you withdraw everywhere you were waitlisted? WL at UVA, Penn, UChicago, UIUC,
Held at Northwestern and most likely going to be WL at NYU.
I am a pro at the WL. Good thing Michigan took some pity on me and let me in.

I was waitlisted at 2 schools, one being my top choice. I have a question though. It there any reason to not ride out the waitlist?, other than trying to do the right thing by the school and fellow applicants.DeeCee wrote:Did you withdraw everywhere you were waitlisted? Other than losing your deposit...no. Also sometimes you may not hear to the bitter end.

ok so to remain on the waitlist you have to submit a deposit? I am sure this is a dumb question just not sure how it works.

Re: "Sloppy Seconds" -- The Waitlist Thread (10/11)
im writing a LONI ( letter of no interest) to each school that waitlists me. While i would like to go to some of those schools, I dont want to go to them at sticker ( which i would be paying if i got off the wl), and end up turning down a scholarship at a school. I dont see the point at putting down a seat deposit to stay on a waitlist, and either- have to rush to get a place to stay, or pay the deposits and not get in off the wl

really dabba? those are some excellent numbers. michigan rejected my ass, but i would have loved to have gotten in, especially with $$. also WL at Penn and Chi. in at UVA though. (??)dabbadon8 wrote:WL at UVA, Penn, UChicago, UIUC,

That makes no sense that one would have to put down a seat deposit when you have no seat. Someone please tell us what school's policy does this because I will not ride the WL if I have to dish out $100s to a school that has yet to give me a spot.

Yeah my cycle has been neither particularly good nor bad. I am real happy about the money at mich. Though it seems like all my other targets and reaches fell through.paulinaporizkova wrote:really dabba? those are some excellent numbers. michigan rejected my ass, but i would have loved to have gotten in, especially with $$. also WL at Penn and Chi. in at UVA though. Coming into the cycle UVA was my top choice just couldn't pull the trigger on the ED. You must be thrilled about it.

You do not need to put a seat deposit down for a WL spot.
I think what he was getting at is that if you're going to ride WLs with the intention of taking a WL acceptance at the 11th hour, you've likely already put a seat deposit down on whatever your safety school that you're attending is, and will therefore lose that deposit.

I am so glad I retook in Dec. My old lsat would have left me on the waiting list at pretty much every school I applied to, if not outright denied.

Me too. At least you have your answer if you're rejected. I got WL'ed at UVa, and that's so much worse than a rejection because I'll be wishing to get in for several months, but knowing it will prob never happen.Arbiter213 wrote:I prefer a ding.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Hypothetical: Would you rather a ding or a hold?femme wrote:I'm expecting a Hold decision at Northwestern today. Without question, I'd prefer a hold. I want to end up in Chicago in the fall. I also applied to Chicago but due to my late application, I'm anticipating a ding.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Hypothetical: Would you rather a ding or a hold?femme wrote:I'm expecting a Hold decision at Northwestern today. Fml

Re: "Sloppy Seconds" -- The Waitlist Thread (10/11)
TITCR. I know someone last cycle that put all seat deposits down, moved in to their apartment, then got a call from their top choice school the day before classes started.......needless to say he dropped everything, lost school deposits/apartment contract fees/moving costs/etc. and left for his dream school. So if you DO hold out until the bitter end, I would be sure that it is DEFINITELY what you want. FWIW, my friend did lose probably thousands of dollars but he doesn't regret the decision one bit and is quite happy where he is now.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:You do not need to put a seat deposit down for a WL spot.
