To be honest I am not sure what to expect as far as scholorships go.

Status updated to "Decision rendered, letter mailed" on the 24th. I live an hour away and haven't received anything yet :|

My GPA and LSAT are both above their top 75 percentiles, so it should be an acceptance. I haven't heard back from any schools yet except for a denial from W&L (which was a reach), so I'm eager to receive this letter.

They ended up emailing me the info bc it never got to my house.

How long did you wait to contact them? Should I just go ahead and request that they e-mail me the info?

I went complete 11/12 and got my decision 11/29.

And I think I waited for about 2 weeks before I sent Ms. Miro an email.

I think i submitted around the 11th or 12th. I don't know too much about the school except it's supposed to be on the rise and its really nice looking. Plus, its in southern florida and its pouring the snow where I live as I type this submission.

The curve is brutal and COA is high as well. If you have other options, I would not go w/o a full ride + needing to stay in South Florida for at least 5 yrs.

Granted, if you do well, some students do place into firms etc. from what I have heard, most is gov't and PI work.

Still waiting. What are the job prospects in Miami. I know its cheaper, but in the long run, is making the decision to attend based on monetary constraints alone a wise idea?

I am considering FIU, but I would need money being out of state.

thanks. the reason i ask is that the one constant on these forums is risk aversion. hence, any opportunity to avoid debt especially outside of t14 to t20 should be taken, i have similar stats and were probably getting the same offers from all the schools weve applied to. although im cuban, ive gotten 0 boost. so were in the same boat. Every time I suggest the possibilty of attending FIU I get crucified.

I went to FIU undergrad. My professor and law school counselor went to FIU law while teaching Poli Sci courses. The dean told the graduating class that they could tell employers that FIU had the hardest curve in the country.I believe the top grad had something 3.7-3.8. If you know for sure you want to practice in S. FL, don't want alot of debt, and don't have your heart dead set on big law FIU is a good choice (can still get it). I will say this they have an outrageously good faculty for a t4 school and being so young. Also the law school is located in the easiest place to find parking at FIU which is HUGE DEAL at FIU. Good luck all. The school is also building up a real nice reputation in Miami within the legal community.

sorry i meant "big law" and yes they are definetly still accepting i would believe especially with numbers above their mediums.

When you said you were getting full rides - then, yes, UM would be the correct answer. However, if you want to be a lawyer, are fine with staying in So Fla. and aren't dead set on making 6 figures [i.e. want to be a lawyer because you really want to], then it is still a risk - but you know what you're getting into.

absolutely not.

UM is an overrated school in a small market. You see all those ticket clinics along US 1? Shitlaw. Unless you want to do PIP/traffic stuff, dont go to UM. Its a bad choice at sticker.

Ps: Im very biased because, as an FIU alum, I hate UM.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
