Congrats zonto, what does the interview entail? Did they say they were going to discuss your application or basically just give you the decision?

Thanks fellas! I got an email from the admissions director asking if I could meet with Dean Hernandez either over the phone or in person this week or next. I called back to talk about work/school schedule and what openings were available. Seems like the interview will take about 20 minutes or so, but she didn't say exactly what it was about. She did say that interviews are good news too though bigbear.bigbear78 wrote:wishing you the best zonto, interview is good news

zonto, he'll ask you a couple questions about your application/resume, then extend the offer.

not to derail the thread- but totally jealous the University of Utah isn't as quick in their turnarounds as BYU-
Congrats to those accepted!

Haha - I've been told they "attempt to build a diverse student body/class," so it might be worth a shot.bsm909 wrote:Crickets- haha!

Re: BYU 2011
That is funny.
Ya, I only decided to apply two days ago (a result of the paranoia of selling my house in this market, mixed with not hearing from the U of U yet) and am just about finished with the exception of getting that endorsement.
If there are any current students that read this that have views on being non-LDS in the school, I'd love to know! (From a non LDS or LDS or BOTH!
)
I don't have a problem with LDS folks and many of my favorite people are LDS- but just curious how much that plays into the school side- outside of the honor code. (Though I am curious if you're allowed to wear gym clothes on campus or if those violate and need to follow the same rules too)
Thanks!

went to BYU for Undergrad, I wore gym clothes all the time, some people have no idea how comfortable they are!bsm909 wrote:That is funny.

Thanks! I'm trying! I think I'll have it in Monday. GaeLynn is out today anyways so that buys me a couple days. Thank you for your insight!

Also, if you want a second look at any of your materials before you submit them, I'd be happy to take a look. PM me if you're interested, and I'll tell you my email. I'm an English major, so I sometimes get my kicks out of editing stuff like this and you seem like a nice person.
By the way, "interview" went great! I really have a good feeling about the school, and the faculty and students (though only a few) that I met were awesome! I made the unfortunate blunder of scheduling during the very afternoon that fall semester grades were posted, so I didn't have much time to talk to him amidst all the grades freakout. I think I will follow up on Monday and see if we can speak on the phone for a few minutes so I can ask a couple questions we didn't have time for.
Are you guys (girls?) going to either of the events in downtown Salt Lake City in February or April? We should meet up at the meet & greet thing between April conference sessions.

Re: BYU 2011
Thanks! I had meant to reply to this but got busy. I actually am further ahead on the rest of my apps so my documents were already in their submittable stage- but I really appreciate the offer! I did get my endorsement yesterday and went complete today. Hopefully its not too long of a wait! Though I know being this late in the game, it may be.
Out of curiosity, when/where are the Salt Lake event dates? Are they admitted student socials?
Thanks!

Anybody going to the J. Reuben Clark Law Society fireside at the Conference Center this Friday? My wife and I are coming down from Logan, and I'd love to meet some fellow TLSers!

I haven't heard about it but maybe I should go. Is it at the conference center in Salt Lake or the conference center on the BYU campus?zonto wrote:Anybody going to the J. We were going to go, but it's right at the same time as a couple other obligations the wife and I have, so we won't be able to make it. It sounds like it will be really good though.zonto wrote:Anybody going to the J. Reuben Clark Law Society fireside at the Conference Center this Friday? Sabenser, it's up in SLC in one of the rooms at the conference center there.

sabenser, it's Friday at 6pm at the LDS Church Conference Center Little Theater in Salt Lake City.
Deja, your obligations make me sad inside.

Do you think it will be hard to get seats?zonto wrote:sabenser, it's Friday at 6pm at the LDS Church Conference Center Little Theater in Salt Lake City.

I haven't the faintest idea. I've never been in that theater so I don't know how many seats are there. Who knows what the person's definition of "little" was that named the thing?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
