Yeah, well, that's because you started a dumb ass thread for something you could have asked in the Pacific thread that was already created. Kinda makes sense, huh?

I think they were just pointing out that a Pacific 2011 thread has already been started, so you can probably post your question there.

Don't really know if its worth it unless we know your other offers and especially the stipulations for keeping the scholarship after 1L. Where else did you apply?

Seriously, though, all this person had to do was search and realize that he/she could have posted it in the Pacific thread that was already created. It really isn't that hard to do...is it?

I like how this thread has now turned into a discussion about whether or not this thread is necessary.

My vote goes with unnecessary, it could have been discussed in the other thread.

well if I wanted to post on a thread that only discussed whether people were getting their acceptance letters via snail mail or email I would have posted here. I want to know about McGeorge the school, not read other people's comments on how nervous they are about waiting for an answer. I also don't like changing the focus of a thread to make it about my specific case. But if you don't like it you can go bitch on the other thread and bring up an unrelated topic.

there*. OH, and the funny thing about cyber space is that it's not a physical space, so there's no reason to worry about running out of places to put threads. I hope you and I never cross paths in the real world where things actually matter more than unnecessary threads.

I don't have a dog in this McG fight, but this is a valid point. OP wants an answer to a specific question re. McG, and avoid the q getting lost among the mass of basic McG questions, as happens all too often on TLS. Don't see anything wrong with starting a new thread for a specific q, re. McG or anything else...

EDIT: Though OP should have entitled his thread the $25K q he posted, so everybody's right!

funny thing is, seeing as how everyone's more interested in the virtue/sin of unnecessary threads, i've posted my question on the other thread. maybe someone, somewhere, will answer. much props for an interesting sociological AND anthropological case study on the nuances of internet culture. I'm going to let this thing run and see how far it goes.

It might be useful for you to read some of the "Thoughts on McGeorge?" thread I started under "Choosing a Law School"

That said, be careful. I got a full-ride to McGeorge, but my scholarship is only renewable each year if I stay in the top 1/3 of my class. Is yours the same way? I would investigate.

I think highly of McGeorge, and it's definitely worth taking a look at. Why not go to honors weekend (or whatever its called) and check it out? You might really like it! Just make sure you're willing to put in the work to stay in the top third of your class.

Well I looked at my scholarship package, I got the Public Service Scholarship that says its renewable. There aren't any grade requirements listed.

Perhaps it's because I am a URM? This must be the case because my gpa is at 2.9 with a 161 LSAT.

Also, I'm up in Canada, so I don't know how I could afford to make a trip down there to see it for myself. Whatever school I go to it'll be blind.

Did they give you another sheet with info on it? Or other papers?

For me the paper that announced that I got a scholarship (it was a paper directly behind the acceptace letter) just said that is was renewable. Then when I looked at the yellow sheet that talked more about the scholly itself, it gave the top 1/3 stipulation.

They are very friendly. Just call them and ask if there are any GPA or top third type requirements

Don't have much of a choice. No money + low prospects = I'm going to the best law school i can get in to whether or not I've seen it. Just found out I got into Hofstra today, and I've already been accepted to Phoenix School of Law with a 20K 3.0 gpa scholarship, but I know PSL is not the place to be.
