Club 170
Since 170 is too high to be considered reverse splitter territory but is too low to be considered a high LSAT, I decided to start this thread to hear about other 170ers' cycles.
It is probably uniquely frustrating because we scored high enough to not warrant "retake" in most cases, but yet we have to wait forever to hear from top schools while initial acceptances are pouring in. We are unlikely to get sympathy from anyone except a fellow 170er so here is out own support group!
***
Disclaimer: don't take it too seriously, it is created with humor.
Just to show that we are not ungrateful SOBs and we have been graced with a great score:
170ers have been accepted at schools as high as
Harvard (URM)
Columbia (ED)
NYU
Berkeley
Penn (ED)
Michigan
Virginia
Duke
Cornell
Georgetown
Complete list here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... y=CKy64ckH

Yes you feel the pain, go through test day 1000 times in your mind and in your dreams, check LSAC at least twice a week for future test dates, but somehow manage to not click the "checkout" button.lmi wrote:awesome. i feel the pain of missing out on maybe just two extra points all the time. it makes me constantly question whether i should have retaken...but yeah, this is a stressful club to be a member of

A 170 is definitely a high lsat, since it is above the 97th percentile for test takers. It would have been 7 points over the score required to get into MENSA prior to 1993 when MENSA dropped the LSAT as a test that qualified someone for admittance into their club. And that score could get you into Harvard, Yale etc with a good gpa to boot, so...I think you can qualify that as a high LSAT.

Re: Club 170
MENSA still lists LSAT as a qualifying test on their website. It is 25% for 3 and median for many more, so it is a "borderline high".jblev2 wrote:A 170 is definitely a high lsat, since it is above the 90th percentile for test takers. And if there is anyone screaming "retake" in this thread, the it isn't high enough.

I said "retake" (in quotes) in the original post, so there is no "IB" here.thecilent wrote:IB"Retake."

Re: Club 170
with y'all on this one.. acceptances so far have made me feel pretty positive about my score, but hate that if I get into a T4 it will likely be in mid-April once I've already made up my mind to go somewhere else

Ah, people who enjoy this unique kind of suffering.
PS. I still consider 170 to be reverse-splitter territory when it comes to T10, definitely HYS.

Check out the Titan Test scoring page for the hardest IQ test in the world, you are right MENSA does take the LSAT, you need a 171. --LinkRemoved--
If you are interested, here is the link to my iq, and my youtube channel, which you may or may not care about lol

Re: Club 170
I concur. We're going to be the last ones to get decisions, since people above us will be accepted quickly, while people below us will be rejected faster. We'll likely be put on waitlists and have to hope the 173s that get accepted choose higher ranked schools. I don't expect to know where I'm going till April... *sigh
what really pisses me off is I was averaging 173 on my PTs...

Anyone I am not interested in Mensa. I had a certified IQ test done by my parents when I was young, it's good enough, I just don't see the point.

Re: Club 170
I also have a 170. Waiting for decisions has me on edge and getting waitlisted at U of M has really shaken my confidence, but I'm still holding out hope. My dream school before the LSAT was ND and it still is, but I was really impressed with Michigan when I visited, so I kinda got my hopes up. Oh well, now I guess I'll just hope ND gives me some $$. Sorry, I'm feeling whiny today.

At least half of the people at Stanford have 170 or lower, so no need to monopolize it! There is enough room for everyone who's stalking the Stanford thread.cardinals1989 wrote:Stanford. MINE.
