GW Early Decision 2011
I applied early decision to GW in mid-November, and I haven't seen any threads going about this topic for 2011 applicants, so I figured I'd start one.... Did anyone else apply for this program??

I did ED too. Should hear back sometime in Jan. I was a GW UG but don't think that'll really help.garrcv7 wrote:I applied early decision to GW in mid-November, and I haven't seen any threads going about this topic for 2011 applicants, so I figured I'd start one.... I ED'd too but I expect to get rolled over to regular decision.
Last year and the year before all ED admits got calls/emails on December 22nd.

Yeah I heard the same about the Dec 22 date.... which is actually coming up really soon! I don't really expect to get in either, it seems ridiculously competitive and they're very secretive about acceptance stats, but I figured it would be worth a shot. Would you still go there RD?

I applied Ed as well but I don't think I have a shot. Probably can't afford to go otherwise

I just want to know who their "top" applicants really are. Do you think they actually get any applications from crazy Harvard types with 175 LSATs and 4.0s? Or is it just generally strong but not insanely stellar applicants like us who wouldn't mind going lower in the rankings for a full ride

Why don't we post numbers here, or at least, after we hear from them. So that we will know what numbers are possible for ED at GW.

Re: GW Early Decision 2011
these are the listed ED admits from last year, so you guys can gain a sense of where you stand. the january admits were probably ED deferred, but the december admits are the real ED accepted.

I believe (based on decision dates) that only the top 5 are ED acceptances. The others I believe were deferred to RD and then accepted.minuit wrote:these are the listed ED admits from last year, so you guys can gain a sense of where you stand.

I can't believe they get any HYS admits, those applicants will typicaly get a full ride opportunity at MVP or such. I imagine they're poaching off people who barely get into CCN or get some money at MVP. I'm in at UVA but no money, doubt they'll take someone with my numbers but I'm close enough to daydream about a top 20 school with little to no debt. I'd also love GW because I could keep my part-time test prep job and maybe even come out of law school with a bit more cash than I started wit.

Yeah, I think it could be a really good opportunity, especially for those hoping to stay in the DC area.... I was speaking to an attorney from one of the top dc law firms who assured me that they recruit from both Georgetown and GW.... She actually encouraged me to apply ED to GW, saying that by getting the scholarship you've already distinguished yourself as a top student and should do fine after graduation

Surprised this thread is so dead, ED decisions might come out in the next couple days, no one is excited?

Question about the ED: If you are accepted thru ED do you automatically get a full-ride or are you simply CONSIDERED for that particular scholarship?

I'm a little excited. I doubt I have much of a chance, but it's fun to dream.

ED acceptance comes with the full ride scholarship.mez06 wrote:Question about the ED: If you are accepted thru ED do you automatically get a full-ride or are you simply CONSIDERED for that particular scholarship?

Yeah, I'm in at UVa and GT, but I'd looove a chance to give up the prestige of the top-14 for a free ride.ach24 wrote:I don't think I have a chance in hell, but I figured it was worth a shot since I wouldn't have to worry about $$$ by getting in ED like I would pretty much every where else.

Hey guys I submitted my apps early morning the 14th and GW is the only school that hasn't sent me an email confirming my application.
Is this because they got swamped with ED apps since the deadline was the 15th or should I call and find out if I went through?

So if we do not hear on the 22nd, are we all moved to RD decisions? or will some be denied as well?

It takes a while for them to send the confirmation.
But it won't hurt if you call them and ask.
