In at Richmond - 2014

Post by pjo » Sun Oct 10, 2010 8:29 pm

I missed a call from their dean tonight, which I thought was awkward because it's Sunday at 8pm. Then 10 mintues later I got a text message from her telling me to call her tomorrow. I've heard of dean's calling people, but has anyone else had experience of receiving a call after hours or texting?

Got a call from Richmond's Dean around 7pm saying I had been accepted. Looks like you're in...most likely.

Yall know anything about Richmond? I think the state of VA is really appealing, but unluckily I sit below the requirements for any of the higher ranked schools. I got the fee waiver a while back but never really looked into it. Then my friend who is from there said the school is absolutely beautiful and has a pretty good reputation in the area. Any info?

I'm from Richmond originally and live here now. I have friends that went to Richmond UG. What do you want to know?

Is the area nice? And does the LS place well even with so many better LSs in the state? Are they generous with scholarship or is it difficult to get in state tuition?

It's private, so no in state tuition to be had.

I don't know anything about placement.

The campus is really nice. It's wooded and there's a pond and hills. There are trees all around the law school, and the law library is very very nice, at least to a 0L who hasn't been in a lot of law libraries. I have gone into the law library to work before when it was empty.

The area immediately surrounding the law school is one of the nicer neighborhoods in Richmond, in terms of big houses and rich people. But it's not far from areas where there are nice little houses, and about 10 minutes drive from the more urban/residential area where lots of young people live and there are bars (the fan).

Just called Dean Rahman. In at Richmond! First acceptance, it's surreal actually being accepted to law school.

---Maybe a mod can change the name of this thread to In at Richmond, or Richmond 2014. Considering others have posted acceptances on here already.

I am currently a 1L at Richmond and I made a Richmond 1L taking questions thread earlier today. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions about UR in that thread as I feel it is more suitable for the comments that this thread has been generating.

I didn't give Richmond really much thought, but I met Dean Rahman at a recruitment fair so I decided to visit while I was in Virginia. I was very impressed. I really like that everyone gets their own carrel desk in the library. Nice campus and great people work there.

Those of you that have already been accepted: Did you apply ED or RD? Also, if you applied ED did you receive scholarship info with your acceptance?

RD. I was told over the phone by Dean Rahman approximately how much I can expect in scholarship but the letter I got said that another scholarship letter would be sent at a later date.

I actually think the best thing about Richmond is that they have worked for the past 3/4 yrs to permanently decrease their class size to 150. I personally think this is something that just about every law school should do and I think it's telling about the administration as a whole at Richmond.

Does anyone know if at Richmond the dean always calls to inform people of acceptances or does it sometimes just come in a letter?

Applied 10/13, haven't heard anything are they just starting admit calls? Any idea when it starts to be a bad thing that you haven't heard? (#s 170/3.1 cumlative with graduating gpa of 3.6-transfer student- and 5 years work experience)

Just got a phone call from the dean offering admission! I'm very excited as I've heard great things about the school!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
