UCLA ED?
with a 165/3.9?
Its close to home and relativly cheap....
or do I have a shot with RD?
( I was also debating Duke or UVA ed....but I havent made that decision yet...)

Re: UCLA ED?
Your best bet would be to ED at UCLA. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that you would have much of a chance if you apply Regular Decision: http://ucla.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/0910/crossingforHYS wrote:UCLA ED?

With that being said, if UCLA is relatively cheap for you, then that is a very enviable position to be in. UCLA is a great school with a huge presence in Southern California, and my advice would be to not over think it.

Re: UCLA ED?
You have no shot with RD, so I would ED to UCLA. Your GPA is above the 75th percentile and your LSAT is at the 25th percentile, so you have a decent shot.

Re: UCLA ED?
This is completely false. I personally know a girl from out of state who applied to UCLA RD with a 164/3.9 and got in no problem (not a URM or anything really special).im_blue wrote:You have no shot with RD, so I would ED to UCLA. Where would you rather attend: UCLA, UVA, Duke, Penn or Michigan?
I think you have a decent shot at any with an ED, but only shot is UCLA without an ED.

by relativly cheap I meant that in state my tuition will not be as horrific as going to a michigain or duke...or even UVA for that matter (for the first year at least) so I was ONLY comparing the price between the different schools...sorry to sound elitist it is by no way cheap....sorry

I would say you have a VERY small chance at all those schools, and only with ED. UCLA is really your only strong bet with EDcrossingforHYS wrote:Really? OP's chances are GOOD at UVA ED, not good for the others.jt1341 wrote:I would say you have a VERY small chance at all those schools, and only with ED. Considering the same thing with a 3.86, 167. Retaking in October but if I don't do better will def ED to UCLA as I would be really happy there and want to improve my chances.
Good luck - maybe see you in Westwood next fall

Law school will be expensive at any T20 school. And she doesnt have numbers to recieve a schooly, so this is bad advice IMOrad law wrote:$40k in-state tuition plus COL? Don't ED.

Then retake. $40k plus COL is nearly sticker at many T10 schools. Also, look for those fees to rise considering the state CA is in. It's just not worth it for diminished job prospects.jt1341 wrote:Law school will be expensive at any T20 school. True, but if OP wants to stay in SoCal i would say UCLA has good prospects, even great with alumni connectionsrad law wrote:Then retake. $40k plus COL is nearly sticker at many T10 schools. Hey there! I decided to wake up from TLS hibernation since I have a week off from 1L (yay Boalt's Fall Break!).crossingforHYS wrote:UCLA ED?

I had your same exact stats with 3 years of work experience and got into UCLA, USC, Texas and, miraculously, Boalt. I was WL'ed at Michigan, UVA and NYU and did not apply anywhere ED.
It depends on your softs and what you want to do with your law degree/where you want to practice. I also considered EDing to UCLA and UVA but my top choice was Berkeley. I held out, wrote a great PS and sent a letter professing my love for Berkeley Law after I heard nothing but crickets for 3 months. If you love SoCal and want to practice there, UCLA is a great option. But if you have interesting softs, I'd hold out.
Best of luck!

If I was in your shoes, I would immediately ED to UVA and, if I get waitlisted (they won't outright reject you with that GPA), ED to UCLA.

It does have great alumni, but I wouldn't pay $180k for them.jt1341 wrote:True, but if OP wants to stay in SoCal i would say UCLA has good prospects, even great with alumni connectionsrad law wrote:Then retake. $40k plus COL is nearly sticker at many T10 schools. You're gonna want some walking around money, so you do have some COL, and I still recommend a retake, but UCLA ED isn't a terrible idea.crossingforHYS wrote: Also, if I go I would have no COL....would stay with my parents
