Important question: Where do you want to work after you graduate? You've said you want biglaw, but the decision between BC and WUSTL generally seems to come down to location.

With BC your choices would probably be Boston or NY (if you can hit the top of the class). With WUSTL your choice would be midwest (Chicago, St. Louis).
Pick a region.

WUSTL is 19 and BC is 28 (and tied to 5 other schools, which is pathetic really)
I would honestly go to WUSTL if accepted despite the NY preference...

dont go to a T30, only t14.
BC, IMO is one the best non t14 schools (only if you had to settle)

Are you a rising 2L at BU? I still haven't withdrawn from BU and was ruling it out after visiting the Tower. What do you think?D.Wilde wrote:Important question: Where do you want to work after you graduate? I would love to go to a T14. I would have no qualms over reapplying next cycle if I were assured that Cornell would accept me.dukelawguy144 wrote:dont go to a T30, only t14.

so despite the nyc preference, and the better placement outcomes, you would still attend WUSTL because it is ranked higher?

Do you currently have a career? What's your income roughly?
BC is not worth sticker, from a pure cost-benefit standpoint. Assuming you have to borrow $175,000, seems like you'd have a ~ 20 percent chance of landing a Biglaw job that will make that affordable. The price of the degree isn't worth its placement power.
But if you're unemployed and struggling, perhaps BC @ sticker would be better than the other alternatives available.

167 and 3.7 should have got u some $, maybe not enough for u to consider reapplying , however, u would also get another chance at Cornell and to ED to several schools.
Might as well reapply early next cycle.

In light of this and nothing else because you appear to be straight rank whoring I'd say reapply; sticker at BC is not worth it IMO when you could likely do better next cycle.kehdrms wrote:No money at all. I've asked BC but no answers..budafied wrote:Important question: Any scholly $$$?

I used to have a career but quit last month. I've saved up just enough to pay sticker at BC.scribelaw wrote:Do you currently have a career? What's your income roughly?

I would because it's ranked 9 steps higher.. but it's exactly this issue that has me torn!pocket herc wrote:so despite the nyc preference, and the better placement outcomes, you would still attend WUSTL because it is ranked higher?

BC: 88 out of 254 got placed in nlj250.tram988 wrote:BC > WUSTL for nlj250. Historically and currently.kehdrms wrote:WUSTL is 19 and BC is 28 (and tied to 5 other schools, which is pathetic really)

WUSTL: 80 out of 291 got placed in nlj250

For a school that's in missouri that's damn good. since many boston firms will recruit straight out of the BC i would expect them to be higher and they're closer to New York, but there's not that many nlj250 law firms in missouri so i would say the rankings do seem to be helping out WUSTL a lot. now if that school was in a location like boston, something tells me they'll have a much better nlj250 rate.

Since u put it that way, WUSTL sounds even better! I honestly never pictured myself living in missouri next to that river, but I am a rankings whore.. so..finalaspects wrote:BC: 88 out of 254 got placed in nlj250.tram988 wrote:BC > WUSTL for nlj250. The stats made me wonder, what the other 160 BC Law grads and 211 WU Law grads are doing at this point..

no matter what school you attend, you have to place near the top of your class to get a big law job though. and it'll take a lot of work to get away from that certain region unless its t14.kehdrms wrote: Since u put it that way, WUSTL sounds even better! you seem to care about the rankings a lot so i suggest you reapply. the worst thing that will happen is you get into WUSTL, with the best being accepted into a t14. like others have suggested do ED and who knows what will happen.

That NLJ article is for the class of 2009, which did OCI in 2007. While the rankings of the schools might be accurate, the percentages are way, way too high. None of the schools you are talking about have over 15 percent going into biglaw now. If your only goal is biglaw, then you need to reconsider your whole plan, since it is not likely to succeed. Now, if you would be happy without biglaw and are willing to spend a few decades paying off the loans, then fine, these are great schools at sticker.

you're probably right about the percentages as all schools have been hit pretty hard. but if he wants the best shot at big law might as well try to go for the ranking aspects of it.sumus romani wrote:That NLJ article is for the class of 2009, which did OCI in 2007. I reapplying is an option, that's the one to take... With your numbers, you should be polling about which scholarship offer you should accept, not which school in this range at which to pay sticker.
Did you apply late this cycle? If so (and if you're able to wait), do yourself a favor and reapply early this fall...
