No Decision at Vanderbilt = ding?
anyone else out there with no decision from Vanderbilt still? Can we assume an inevitable ding by this point?

Went complete 2/24. No word at all yet, but from watching the boards I would say I should hear something in the next 2 weeks. It may be late in the cycle, but I don't think that no decision equals a ding. I'm just gonna lie to myself and say that they maybe I've made the first cut and will at least get waitlisted.

Re: No Decision at Vanderbilt = ding?
If you have a full ride to IU-B, and essentially a half ride to both WUSTL and USC, then perhaps Vanderbilt is yield-protecting (if for some reason they don't think they could come close on the scholarship monies). In short, they know that if they admit you, they'll probably have to fork over 15K/year for you to strongly consider them. Just a guess. But in any case, I don't think the no decision is a bad thing in your case. And I'd imagine it's not a bad thing for the others on this board either. If you really want Vandy, then let them know and I'll bet they admit you. Good luck!musicfor18 wrote:yeah I applied to 26 schools ad Vandy's the only one I haven't heard from!primusux wrote:Mid Jan, still no decision.

Wow, I had no idea that schools wait this long to render decisions. I wish you guys good luck and hope to see some of you in the fall.
Just as an aside, has everyone checked their spam folders? 2 of my decision emails went straight to my spam folder and I had no idea a decision had been rendered for, seriously, a month. Obviously, I know most of you are still waiting for a decision, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case.

Re: No Decision at Vanderbilt = ding?
I applied on 3/1 and received my acceptance email on 3/30. Their admitted weekend was mid-April.
I don't know if that helps you all, or is more depressing, but it seems like their timing is all over the place when it comes to responding. I would say don't give up hope yet! We had to send in our deposits May 1st, so perhaps they are seeing how many more spots they will have left.

And before anyone makes a snarky comment in their head about my numbers--yes they are low and I know I'm a long shot. But I keep telling myself that I've got a serious upward grade trend going and tons of WE. Besides, Vandy probably has a shortage of average midwestern white boys this cycle.

Nah, your numbers are fine, particularly the LSAT. All of us on TLS have skewed understandings on what a good LSAT score truly is because we're all gunning for those top 10% schools. In reality, 167 is top 5% and you should be proud.chaupa wrote:167/2.81 Went Complete 2/24musicfor18 wrote:Numbers?chaupa wrote:DM 5/3.

That said, I wonder why I haven't gotten a decision yet. I went complete 2/18 and my numbers are 167/3.7

Re: No Decision at Vanderbilt = ding?
Hmmm. Well if I have a decision on the way and you don't, possibly I've got a ding coming and you are being held back for a minute while admissions figures out who didn't commit, who they want off the waitlist and who still has a reasonable app still floating around in admissions neverland (this would be you). It would seem from the varied responses we are receiving that at least one of us will at least make the waitlist.musicfor18 wrote:Nah, your numbers are fine, particularly the LSAT. anybody heard yet??
not even DM yet. this is unbelievable. almost a week past their deposit deadline and not even a waitlist? a little ridiculous and very frustrating.

Late apps (comparatively). I am not surprised.musicfor18 wrote:Nah, your numbers are fine, particularly the LSAT. Just checked and I FINALLY have a decision mailed date (5/5)!! Wow, that seems like ages. My numbers are 167/3.7. I guess I'm probably looking at WL, at best?

Sofia in admissions told me they'd be reading applications throughout May. It's not necessarily an ill omen if you haven't been accepted yet, but you're in a statistically rough position because the school has fewer offers to give out at this point in the game.

Did most of those accepted receive notification by email (someone above said they did)?

I received my acceptance by email, but I think that had more to do with the fact that the last ASW was a week away when they made a decision on my file. They wanted to give me at least some time to buy a ticket and come.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
