Waitlisted at HYS - Retake LSAT in June?

Post by calidreamin » Wed Apr 28, 2010 9:31 am

Hi everyone,

I'm curious to hear people's opinions on this since a lot of us are riding waitlists at HYS. Is anyone considering retaking the LSAT in June? The test is in the first week, so we wouldn't get scores until late June. If I did it, I would write a note in my LOCI indicated that I was going to retake and ask that the school hold off on any negative decision until reviewing my June score. At this point, there's probably not much to lose except my own time and effort in preparing for the test. I'm a 171/3.8x so there's room for improvement on the LSAT side. It is discouraging, however, to see how many high LSAT/high GPA combos have been waitlisted at HYS anyway. This makes it questionable whether any score improvement would help anyway. From a gut instinct, I suspect that a jump in LSAT would matter most at H.

Thoughts on this kind of strategy? Anyone else doing the same?

It wouldn't help for Yale.
IT said so on the blog, plus she said the class is stable by the end of May.

I'm thinking about retaking for S, but I'm debating whether it would matter to them. They seem to care more about the total package & GPA way more than LSAT score...

Also thinking about retaking for the SLS waitlist, but same doubts about how much they would really care. If I finally managed to live up to my preptest scores and killed the 3rd test I'd be tempted to reapply next year, but not sure how receptive H/S/C would be towards 3 scores plus an earlier cancel.

The discussion in the H thread is that they don't seem to like retake that much this year. S look like their lsat is always not super high. They don't seem to put so much emphasis on the score as long as it is acceptable (not low). Y - well I don't think it is about the scores. So my opinion is that it won't help. I am was going to retake and reapply and I have been thoroughly convinced by a number of advisors not to do it. I would focus on updating them of your interest, honors, and other EC's. Get in a really good LOR, do something meaningful in the summer, make yourself standout and more attractive as a whole
