Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
Not sure if anyone else has posted on this already (got bored of wading through the flames), but there's been movement on the Harvard waitlist (see Harvard waitlist thread on this board)- several URMs have been accepted and possibly some non-URMs.
Anyone know anything about the NYU waitlist? Not expecting a ton of movement on that, but it must be massive since it seems like they just waitlisted eeeeeverybody at the end of the cycle.

I called and spoke to an admissions officer this morning and she told me that as of right now they are completely full. She said the earliest they would return to their waitlist was mid to late June, but said there was a possibility they might not use it at all.

Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
Harvard has been moving people from WL --> Accepted. While I received a big fat rejection from them in April, it is worth looking at their action because there might be some trickle down effect.
portena 171 3.98 WL, Accepted A 04-19-10 5 days
tonymar127 171 3.91 WL, Accepted A 05-10-10 11 days
jasmoon (URM) 169 3.8 WL, Accepted A 05-11-10 1 day
lizzerbie 171 3.76 WL, Accepted 04-17-10 10 days
AKLaw 175 3.61 WL, Rejected 04-22-10 29 days
sunny63 N 166 3.8 WL, Rejected 27 days
75th GPA: 3.95 75th LSAT: 175
Median GPA: 3.86 Median LSAT: 172
25th GPA: 3.72 25th LSAT: 169
Of the WL--> Accepted group only lizzerbie is below both medians, (she is above both 25%). Jasmoon is a URM. Her GPA is slightly below median and his LSAT is below 25%. There is no use trying to understand how they measure URMs on the waitlist with only one data point.
The other two have sub 25% LSATs and GPAs above and below the 75% (both above median). For what it is worth, though, they are taking in people with very good GPAs (meaning good by the standards of the other schools) so other schools below Harvard will have to recruit high GPA candidates to fill these spots. If that trend continues and is repeated at YSNCC etc, then it might become meaningful and useful data for those of use struggling to get into the top 14 and trying to get scholarships off the waitlist. As of right now it is just interesting to sit and watch jealously as our peers get into Harvard.
The WL-->rejects were just as indecipherable as those above. I guess when you are Harvard you don't have to struggle to meet GPA and LSAT median scores like the other schools.

Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
No action this week at Stanford, NYU, Columbia, Chicago, Penn, Michigan, Berkeley, Duke, Northwestern, nor Georgetown.
Two new WL--> rejects at UVA, fitting the same pattern as before: both had below 25% LSATs. These two were probably rejected along with everyone else and just got around to putting their data on LSN.
One WL-->admit at Yale: dutchstriker 180 3.83 WL, Accepted A
Cornell has two WL-->Accepts in addition to danidancer who posted above:
iwant2go2there 168 3.45 WL, Accepted D
cointoss 168 3.58 WL, Accepted D
(The D after Accepted means Deferred, I guess that they are going somewhere else?? but I am not sure. Maybe it means they are going to Cornell in 2011.)

There have been rumblings of Penn WL activity on the Penn WL thread. From the numbers that the person gave, Penn might be boosting their GPA medians.

Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
From Maygem on the Penn thread:
There was another story about a girl in a hair salon who said she got in (but hearsay does not count as evidence in this courtroom.)Sure, 3.96/165. 2 years of relevant/semi-unique work experience, a couple of academic awards, interesting experiences growing up and several non-traditional reasons for attending law school. Non-URM.
I sent a loci a few weeks ago and submitted a well thought-out "Why Penn" essay with my original application.

Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
Just an FYI - iwant2go2there is me. There's been a bunch of movement on the Cornell Waiting Room and EA Deferred threads. The D for me on LSN is to signify that I applied Early Action but was deferred to the regular pool, I think that's probably the case for the others as well... I will still be starting Fall 2010.MURPH wrote:Cornell has two WL-->Accepts in addition to danidancer who posted above:

Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
I posted on the Penn waitlist thread but not this one yet - I was accepted off the wait list after a few phone calls with them about a week ago. 165/3.93. Just deposited there as well.
Edit: I've gotten some messages asking what the calls entailed- they called me (total surprise to me! out of the blue) to ask my interest and to call back to talk more, I did, they told me to call later, I did, they called to accept me. My schedule wasn't exactly working with hers so there were a few phone calls instead of just 1 or 2.

Re: Official TLS Wailisted to Accepted thread 2010
I've been out of the loop, working 12 hour shifts daily for 8 nights. Tonight might be my first night off in a while. I know there has been a little action at Penn, Cornell, WUSTL and GULC. If I get a chance to organize the data I will. It is pretty easy just to look it up on LSN and the threads here and pull together some trends (hint, hint). Anyway my body is stuck on night shift so when the rest of the world sleeps I'll be up mining the internet for law school admissions information.

I got accepted at WUSTL today with a 10,000/yr scholarship after calling them this morning to express my continued interest.

I am not sure. I got into UCLA too. I also have to check the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon scholarship information to see what it will cost. I will also let UCLA know about the competing offer.
