Did they say that they are sending admit decisions via post too?

I don't buy this. I just called and was told the earliest we'd begin to hear is the middle of this month, and by the end of June all candidates will receive a further decision on their applications.

Is it possible to get need-based grants if accepted off the waitlist ?

I'm not sure, but it seems like most schools have already run out of funding to give to waitlisted students that get admitted from the waitlists...

It seems like around this time last year Columbia was already sending decisions out, so do you think we can be optimistic and assume that because they need more time to send out decisions this year, it might mean that more spots have opened up...?

I emailed them a week or so ago, asking for an update. They told me: "The first review of the Reserve group is being held at the end of this month. Reserve candidates should receive a further decision by the end of June."
Hope that helps you more than it helped me.

I also got my letter from Columbia. I was previously on their first reserve and now they had said they want to keep me on the reserve list so I am on second reserve.

no letter here. Sigh. Guess I'm going to start stalking the mailman again.
Shane, did they imply that they would be reviewing reserve candidates at the end of
June ? It sounds like they're already making decisions about 2nd reserve. I wonder if they were talking about reviewing the 2nd reserve at that time, and just doing a preliminary sort through the candidates now .

2nd reserve for me too in NJ. Has anyone heard of someone starting classes at another school and withdrawing from that school to attend Columbia (or any other school they were interested in attending) off the waitlist?

Were your letters postmarked on Thursday or Friday?
And is the general consensus that acceptance letters go out by snail mail too?

I'm in NYC too but didn't get a letter. Commencing the freaking out and sobbing.

to those of you now on second reserve:
did you have to follow a link to accept your spot? if you did, was there a specific date you had to confirm by?
i ask because i have someone checking my mail for me back home; wondering if i need to pester him into checking the mail every day...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
