I am wondering why Stanford takes so long to reject certain folks. Here are a few examples:

The obvious answer would seem to be that thy are borderline candidates and SLS was unsure about them; but then why not waitlist them? I have not noticed this trend at other schools... has anyone else?
For full disclosure, my curiosity stems from the fact that I applied to SLS on 10/20 and have not heard a peep. Any others in the situation?

I'm in the same boat - I applied in mid-October and haven't heard anything. If I'm going to be WLed or rejected (which I expect), I just wish it would happen sooner than later.

FTR, I don't think I ever had a shot at SLS.
