Latest Decisions Are Made

Post by sternc » Fri Mar 26, 2010 2:36 pm

What is the latest a school will let people know? I always figured that by April 1st I would have heard from everywhere, but now I am thinking otherwise.

Just go on LSN and organize by decision rendered date. Usually latest is late April, with a few stragglers going into early May

Edit: that's counting W/L as a decision . . . could get in off W/L week before classes start

Didn't I read on one school's thread that someone was notified from a waiting list like two days before class?

Or are you talking about first decision? (ie accept, WL, deny?)

FWIW, I have a friend who was accepted somewhere last year during first week of May.

If you were in before the deadline then you should hear no later than April 30. However, if you were in past deadline or waitlisted it could be up until late-July!

I could easily see it taking another month for me to hear back from some of my schools, but odds are (with the exception of a few that just have a completely swamped admissions office) those are dings anyway.

When it comes to getting in off a waitlist...well, could be day-of classes or so.

One school told me they send decisions through the end of May. Off waitlist can happen up to Orientation day.

I just checked my top choice on LSN for last cycle, and there were decisions coming in through june/july. Some waitlist people got in in August. Great.

The way my cycle is going, there's no telling when I'll definitely know if I'm going to law school this fall.

I would be way ok knowing the day of orientation, assuming that I haven't gotten accepted anywhere. Desperation much?
