Post by sunshinefairy » Tue Mar 23, 2010 11:24 pm

Hiya,
I am interested in talking to folks attending/applying to Capital. What do people think?

I applied to Capital and was accepted. Im considering it because it does have a good bar passage rate and I've heard decent things about it (not just from Capital students).

I keep hearing great things too! What type of law do you hope to do? Are you from Columbus?

I am interested in public interest law and state legislative public policy work - Capital seems like a great place to pursue this.

I'm actually interested in similar fields and I've heard Capital places well in public interest. Plus, its in an ideal location. Im not from Columbus but I have family that lives there so I visit often. Have you applied yet? Im planning on attending the ASD on April 10th, I was hoping to hear from some more people who plan to go.

I've heard the same! I probably won't be able to make it to any ASDs. =( I visited the school last fall though. I live in NM and work full-time. My family lives there too and my mother is just ecstatic I got accepted into Capital. hah.

Where do most Capital law students live? I know its a commuter campus so I'm assuming German Village? Short North?

Capital's law school is located in the downtown area. I'm assuming students would live in the two areas you mentioned or somewhere like Grandview.

I'm planning on starting there this fall (full time). We live in Arkansas, so it will be quite a move for us. I have a friend in Columbus who went to Capital, so that's how I found out about the school. We really like the Columbus area and the school. I got a really good scholarship there, so that made the decision easier. Our main concern right now is that if we don't decide to stay in Columbus and want to move further south (Kentucky or Tennessee) it might be hard with a Capital degree.

I am married with a baby, so we are trying to buy a house in one of the suburbs, maybe Pickerington or Reynoldsburg.

Right now I'm interested in mainly property and civil ligitgation. Maybe corporate.

I am planning on starting at Capital this fall also. I had applied at a few other law schools around the country, but since I live in Ohio, Columbus is the closest one. Plus I also got a pretty nice scholarship, which made my choice easy. I have heard only good things about Capital Law, so I hope nothing floats up in the last minute. I am about to get married a couple of months before the school year starts, so we will be looking for a place close to the school to rent. Does anyone know where the best areas are, considering distance from the school, price, and quality of the area???
Thanks guys and I hope I see you in Fall, 2010!

Oh ... I am also interested in International Law and also in Criminal Law. I am from Bulgaria, so I have some experience with immigration law, but I am hoping to get familiar with a lot more areas of the International Law.
