Marquette Fall 2010 Waitlist

Post by OnWisconsin » Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:44 pm

I'll start off, I'm on the waitlist.

Applied early November, waitlisted mid January.

Here's hoping they activate the waitlist.

If you're on, give the post a shout so we can all track the decision process. If you're off, congrats. If you're withdrawing your acceptance, the collective membership of this post thanks you.

How's everbody doing? Thank you for inviting me to this Waiters Anonymous meeting. My name is Robert Paulson and I have been on the Marquette WL for about 4 or 5 months now. I'm hoping to get clean here any day now.

When is their first deposit deadline? Do you think we should hear a week or so after that? It's been months for me as well.

The deposit deadline is April 15 but the scholarship acceptance deadline is April 1...thanks for reminding me of one more thing to put on my to do list before spring break! Good luck to all of you on the waitlist, I think you are right to assume you will hear shortly after the deposit deadline. To those of you on the waitlist, what are the chances of you coming here if you do get accepted? Is this your top choice or are you just hanging out on the wait list to see what happens and have some alternate options? Just wondering because I am 99% certain I am coming to Marquette in the fall and wondering if that means I should withdraw my apps at the schools I've been waitlisted.

Speaking for myself, if accepted, 99.5% chance I'd attend. I, strangely enough, truly desire to work and live the rest of my days in Wisconsin.

They would have to offer me a scholarship that compares with the one I received from Saint Louis University for me to attend, and as I am WL I seriously doubt that will happen. Sounds like they've already offered scholarships, soooooooooooo . . . look out Saint Louey, here I (probably) come!

LSN informs me that Generic2010 is off the WL, in, & A .

Any other movement, or is everyone else still languishing in WL purgatory?

I am definitely going to Marquette now. I feel very thankful to have gotten off the waitlist so early.

Congrats by the way, that's awesome!

So far you're the only one I know of that has gotten pulled off. At least according to LSN/TLS. I'm guessing there must be at least another 10-20 in your boat that don't participate in either site. Hopefully you 2nd rounders won't be the only ones, but this is a pretty stacked cycle due to the economy etc, so I don't expect much more movement.

Which sucks.

Second deposits were due (post marked) June 1st. In theory if there is to be any movement it should be coming relatively soon.

Has anyone on here contacted the admissions office or heard any information on WL movement or realitive class fulfillment?

From what I've gathered on other threads UW is expecting some movement on their WL in the next week which could potentially affect our position. Again, it's all scuttlebutt.

I'm so anxious. My friend was admitted and her LSAT (154) was lower than mine as was her GPA (3.72). The only thing I can think of is that my grades from this year were not on my transcripts, but I had them re-sent and I'm hoping this makes the difference and I will soon be accepted. How long do we wait ---- Marquette is the only school I applied to because I need to stay in Milwaukee. Will they consider people for part time if not full time? Then next year I can be a full time student.

I am not sure if they offer PT to people who initially applied FT. They have a fairly small PT section and I would imagine it fills up just as quickly as their FT. Additionally I think they give more weight in PT to people with more work/life experience as opposed to applicants straight out of UG. In anycase, to be certain you'd need to contact the admissions office to get the straight dope.

As for your friend getting in with a lower LSAT and GPA I can only assume that she had some killer softs or that her GPA is from a very competitive UG.

My question is, with the addition of their new, larger facilities will they offer more spots? While I realize that an increase in the physical structure does not automatically transalte into increased capacity, you'd still think that would be the case. Not only that, but from a simple pragmatic perspective, more warm bodies equal more money for the University.

They said they would keep the same class size.

Hopefully soon, as 2nd deposits were June 1st.

Of course it's all contingent on whether or not there are any spots available. Seems like a good number of schools overbooked their flights this year, meaning those of us sitting around the terminal are getting bumped.

It's a self selective site. Just as when you were offered your position there was at least one other person who was offered a spot that did not report it on LSN that I know of.

Therefore, more than one, less than many or most, means a few.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
